Classic Ultima Game Idea.

on Monday, March, 26, 2012 10:57 AM
So I spent last night on a C64 emulator playing Ultima III. It's my favorite one of the whole series. I also checked out the Adventure Mode of Dwarf Fortress (someone mailed me on YouTube suggesting it) and I'm really impressed but there isn't no over all 'save the world' quests or anything like that.

Anyways, as I was playing UIII last night I thought about a game concept that combines the two concepts. A game that uses classic Ultima III gfx but with a random world generator and a huge epic 'save the world' quest.... well.. sort of.. I'd like to write a completely original storyline that isn't Ultima related.

I actually have the means of doing this but it's just that I need to find an game engine and learn scripting for it.... and I need time.

Years ago I wanted to do sometime similar for a Tron RPG/Game Chat world that had gfx like the old Phantasy Star games that was on the Genesis/Mega Drive and was exclusive to Tron-Sector.com. But of course like most of my ideas I never have time to do it nor do I know anyone that would be interested in working on a project with me.

Is there anyone here at the sector that has any indie game developing experience?

I haven't played any of the Ultima or Phantasy Star games, but I do have some experience with game development. I could probably make something similar to what you're suggesting.

Problem is that I'm not much of an artist. And by that I mean all of my game art looks like it was poorly drawn with a mouse in Microsoft Paint.

Because it was.

Needless to say, developing a Tron RPG would be something I'd be interested in. I can easily work out in my head how to get the elements of a 2D action-RPG (where the player has direct control over their character at all times, similar to Bethesda games, but in 2D) working in GameMaker.

At the moment, I'm learning how to use Unity3D, but I'm such a beginner that it's not even funny.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

I know a little bit of Cinema 4D, but mostly I'm good at photo art and I know I could do the art for a game, it's just that I'd need a little bit of direction. I'm also pretty good at making music but I have issues with a sound card and I'm sort of stuck with that at the moment till I get a new one. I was making a small platformer on Multimedia Fusion and did all the artwork for that but I never got the chance to finish it. I'm wanting to scout out some game engines to see what works best with what I'm wanting to do.
