I've been away from the grid for a few more cycles than I planned, but I'm close enough to complete that I wanted to show off my latest addition... a TRON inspired iCade (for the iPad).
It features a completely new control panel layout, light-up buttons and joystick, integrated iPad charger, and all the buttons can be individually set to any of 8 different colors (without a screwdriver).
I started with this:
and ended with this:
Realistically, it will take be a couple weeks to finish up a final detail and take some good photos but I felt like I had to share...

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
I've been working on this off and on for a year (mostly off as real life intrudes on my hobbies).
The Bluetooth symbol isn't really a button. On the original iCade, there's a fake coin slot (in red) that indicates when the bluetooth module (i.e. how the controls connect to the iPad) is active. I took out the single red LED and replaced it with 3 white LEDs that back-light a blue piece of laser etched acrylic with the bluetooth logo.
No, I can't really mass produce and most people wouldn't like the price. I've spent well over $100 for parts alone plus the cost of the original iCade and the time spent.
I could do a run of vinyl artwork for the iCade though. It's a little challenging to cutout all the pieces to the right size but it anyone wanted to handle that themselves I could sell a single sheet of adhesive vinyl with all the artwork for about $40 shipped (which is at-cost for me).

I'm not doing the disc mods anymore and I'm holding on to the disks I have remaining. Maybe I'll do something with them when/if a third movie comes out...
