Encom Started in a Garage

on Tuesday, July, 05, 2016 6:18 PM
It just occurred to me that Sam is probably living in the garage where Dumont and others started Encom!  That is pretty obvious ...I can't believe I am only just now making that connection.  Dumont and Dillinger had that argument in which the garage was mentioned. "Dumont Shipping" is on the outside of Sam's place...

Am I right?

*facepalm* I don't know that I made that connection before either :-/  Of course, it's been almost six years since the movie came out (I can't believe it's been that long ), so maybe I thought it before and just forgot?  Six years without a Tron 3... ugh.

If I'm honest when Dillinger and Dumont were having that conversation, it did make me wonder if that was meant LITERALLY.
A part of thinks that the whole garage reference might not mean that the company was actually founded in someone's garage, but was started by a small group of amateur technicians in the basement of a house somewhere in the middle of the suburbs.

Yes that is the garage where it all started. And sometimes I wish I were back in my garage.

PS: Kinda funny, if you go to dumontshipping.com nowadays, it redirects to 42 Entertainment's site, where they have a nice, lengthy video describing the Tron Legacy ARG events

I'm inclined to say no.  What are the odds that Sam would end up owning/renting the same place that Walter Gibbs had?  (Unless you want to argue that his Encom obsession extends far enough that he would seek to do such a thing, and I think you could, but I'm not inclined to lean that way.)  Also, I assumed that was referring to Gibbs' *residential* garage (I still am not sure exactly what Sam's "apartment" is supposed to be... was it a former [something] before he moved it, or did he build it from shipping containers, or...?).  (I also assumed it was an Apple/Steve Jobs reference, but I could be wrong.)

What do you want? I'm busy.

Program, please!

Chaos.... good news.
