Tron Cosplay

on Sunday, September, 25, 2016 3:46 PM
Hi everyone, I'm brand new to tron-sector.  For all the Tron cosplayers out there, here's a link to my classic Tron (1982) Kevin Flynn cosplay.  I've found a lot of material from other Tron cosplayers out there who have come before me, and I wish to be among them and those who further the art.

Here's my latest update on the esoteric art (er, I mean popular past-time) of Cooper SK 2000 hockey helmet repair:  how to fix the side bumpers for the perfect Kevin Flynn helmet!

Like the man says, there's no problems, only solutions!

Thank you, and glad to be among you.

The "Master Control Program says End Of Line for Flynn" picture is amazing!^^
In the AVT picture you actually look like Jeff Bridges a bit. And dear I say, you have a face made to be a program.
If you meet someone in an alien costume again, how about next time you let it fetch the identity disc in its fangs?

That is awesome!! Will you be cosplaying with any other people??

At one point a few years back, there was an 80's themed cosplay night at one of the bars/clubs during SDCC. I wanted to do an 80's style Classic Tron girl cosplay (literally a cross between a program and 80's valley girl) but never got around to it. >__<

That looks great! Very impressed with your crafty work.  I may actually try my hand at a Tron style costume next year.  I'm debating whether I'll go with classic or Legacy style with helmet on.  Maybe an Anon suit from the Tron Evolution game.
By the way, welcome to Tron Sector! A great first post. I may have seen your work on FB, actually.

Superb costume considering how little time you had!  Can't wait to see more elaborate circuit designs in your next version!!

Update 3/25/17: On track for San Diego Comic-Con 2017! I've completed the Kevin Flynn helmet neck visor. I am very pleased with the result. The rigid vinyl backing combined with original prop craft foam gives a result that is both authentic to the prop and more durable in the long run. Check out the link for a full write-up and photos of the process:

Hey tron85, thanks so much!  If I encounter an Alien this time at SDCC 2017, I will let 'em have it!

Hey Driver, no I'm not cosplaying with others this SDCC 2017, but I know I will run into at least one other Tron cosplayer there and will take pics for sure.

Nar78, thanks so much, I'm glad you like my work!

To flynn1978, thank you!  Yeah, can't wait to get started on the more detailed work of the shoulder pads and leotard.

To KarlaB, user 2.0, Ivy, typicaltronname, and malcova - many thanks for your compliments!

A very special thank you to Rosanna Norton, oscar-nominated costume designer for Tron (1982)! I emailed Rosanna and she gave me some guidance on how to recreate the Kevin Flynn unitard. Read all about it here and watch my "Tron Blinky Lines" video:

Really nice work.  It's awesome how you actually got in contact with somebody involved with the film.  Congrats.

Thanks DrP!  Here's another progress update:

Tron cosplay alert! Here's my latest work digitizing the artwork from photos of the original Kevin Flynn costume worn by Jeff Bridges in Tron (1982). When complete, I'll make ink screens from these templates and screen print the costume myself. Read all about it here:

Thanks Bernice!  Here's another update from work on the helmet this weekend.  I painted the finer lines on the rear area, as well as the side bumpers and front-of-the-ear regions.
