Although I'm sure it's not supported, you can find work arounds for the "XP only" thing at the Tron 2.0 forums.
People there have gotten it to work with 9x,ME,etc...
You can also access v1.3 servers after you install the update by renaming gamep5 and gamep6 to something else or moving them to a different folder. Then it's only a matter of putting them back.

I just found out that my website at http://scorpius.spaceports.com/~tron which hosted the v1.040 update installer for all Windows versions was disabled because it exceeded the monthly bandwidth limits of 1GB per month. Given that the update is less than 20MB, apparently a lot of Tron 2.0 users needed it. (See, BVI?! Making the update exclusive to Windows XP was a stupid thing to do.)

So, if you need the v1.040 update installer for all versions of Windows, you can download it from http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/tron2/Thirdparty/tron-update_v1x3-noxp.exe.html .

I would also like some additional mirror sites though because 3DGamers' sites get maxed out quite frequently. If you host the file, please respond in this thread with the download location so people will know where to get it.

Mixed movie metaphors aside, maps are the one thing which users can make for themselves using the tools. So, take advantage of them and make some maps! Others have already made lightcycle and discarena maps. Making derez maps is not that much harder if any.

I fail to see the point or fascination of discarena especially now that derez is available. Discarena is simply derez mode with only a single-weapon and a waiting line to play. Derez can be played with just the disc weapon as well (although the maps would have to have no other weapon pickups to enforce it) and there is no wait between deaths.

So, people who create discarena maps should convert them for derez play. To do this, first create an INFO.TXT file for your map. Be sure to at least specify the "disc" as the default weapon, i.e. DefaultPrim0 = "disc". Use an existing INFO.TXT file like DM-01INFO.TXT as a template.

Current discarena maps can already be played in derez mode since both modes can use ArenaStartPoints as spawn points although having the segmented/isolated arenas prevents players from moving between them. So, to make all of the arenas in a discarena map available, simply place teleporters in them. To do this, place a "TeleportPoint" object in the map you want to be the teleporter destination. Then place a "PlayerTrigger" object where you want the player to teleport from. Set the "numberofactivations" on the trigger to 0 so there will be no limit to the number of times it can be used. Set the "command" for the trigger to "msg teleport ". So, if your teleportpoint destination is "teleportpoint0", the command would be "msg teleport teleportpoint0".

Finally, place the map and its INFO.TXT file into the WORLDS\RETAILMULTIPLAYER\DEATHMATCH subdirectory inside the REZ file for it.

Whether or not you should place other or any weapons in the converted map really depends on the map. If the discarena map is small or uses the breakable cubes, having just the default disc, the sequencer, and/or the cluster disc may be all that is appropriate.
