I read that book, paperback, when they was first published. The cover is the exact same. I read it a few times, especially favorite scenes, and wondered how much was embellished and how much was official ideas that were omitted for the film. thats due to the photo insert, my sister works at the library in book repair so i know these things  it looks like whoever used this book only looked at the insert and never read it.

I got a good copy off of half.com for like, about $4.
Also, I'm good at repairing books-- it's just that paperbacks are scary to repair sometimes! :P (Yes, I also work at the Library too. I'm awesome at getting tape off of books-- jeez, people trying to "helpfully" repair books with tape and they actually end up making it worse that way. D: )

Guilty. Is there anything better that I can do, or is some special treatment performed to repair tears?

It's only okay if they're your own books, but if they belong to the library, it's very much recommended *not* to repair them as they already have people who will repair them. x_X

Liked the book, but Bit should be regulated to "yes"/"no". Loved the recognizers being referred to as "Reco's"
