At least its more buttons than the Space Paranoids commercial where a kid is playing the game on an Atari 2600, using one controller and one button.

Considering the Tron2.0 Killer App for Gamboy Advance has both reco and tank levels, it's actually not that hard to opperate either with a controller that simple. *knows from experience* Of course, your hands start to ache at the end of each reco or tank section, but still...

Yeah but they could've thought about it a little bit more. These writers tend to be insanely detail-oriented so I was surprised when I realized it wasn't a pair of analog sticks.
Though when he plays it, it looks like he's using trigger buttons too, so maybe... the 4 buttons are serving as directional?
