I've been hunting everywhere for the C64 cartidge of GORF but can only find the ones for Vic-20 (not sure if it'll actually work with c64...), Atari, and Colevision. x_x;

I only wish I didn't have that freak streak of bad luck when I was going to get the free c64 diskette drive... only to find out that it got stolen before I could get it!

Yeah, but I'm not sure if Vic-20 software will actually work on a C64. (Even though the two are near-identical in hardware structure, it's just that I'm not sure.)

Perhaps, I'll have to buy the Vic-20 port of Gorf and see if it works... if not, I can always sell it.

I don't think the game would work...among other things the two computers had different screen resolutions (VIC-20 letters and all were HUGE, the C-64 more 'normal-sized'). There are other differences too, like memory size and such. It *might* work, but I highly doubt it

Actualy, a few systems used cartridges 'back in the day'. Commodore and Atari come to mind...as well as the Coleco Adam (I actually HAD one of those ). I'm sure there were others as well.

I'm thinking the main reason was speed. Anyone remember the Commodore 1541 disk drive? You could have a pizza delivered in the time to took for a big program to load. Ok...maybe I'm exagerating..a little (but just a little). And don't even get me STARTED about tape drives *LOL*. A kid could hit PUBERTY waiting for something to load with one of those things. Another possible reason was it was easier for the little kids of back then to just plug in a game and go.

So, yeah...that's my theory on why some older computer systems used cartridges.

Well for sure cassete driven for loading will always take longer than the local yolkal of a floppy or hard disk even on the C64. THe only time that I goto tape is for archival usage only to either back up or restore to the hard drive. And even then. REstoring or backing up 12/24 gigs of raw data will take a long time. Last time I did a restore it took me over 6 hours to dump it to my 30 gig hard drive.

Ok....I feel like a dork...but....what do you mean by 'snipe'? Somehow I can't quite picture you staking out the Ebay HQ with a rifle.

Snipers are kind of annoying with ebays... when there's a very intense aunction that everyone is bidding on and there's a lot of snipers... so, blaaaaaaaaaah.

I encountered lots of snipers while trying to get this one manga... which I lost twice.
