Space Paranoids has been updated. Everything looks way better and the code has been completely rewriten so far.

As a pilot program I'm sure I should know this, but how do I play? I'm mashing keys all over the place and can't get past the Startup Screen!  Thanks.

Enter credits via the "5" key.
Start the game via the "1" key (after credits have been entered).
Aim turret/turn via the mouse.
Shoot via the left mouse button.
Move tank via the arrow keys.
exit back to title screen via "F3".

I zipped it with the windows 2003 built in zip engine, I'll download winzip and re-zip it tonight and see if that helps...

For your Shadow test problem, the executable requires directX 9 and also a graphics card that supports stencil shading (for the shadows). I think a GeForce 2 or 3 is the minimum spec.

Yeah, I'm starting to figure that my whole system is just not up to the task.
I have a P3, 550mhz and 256MB RAM with an old Diamond Viper V550 graphics card. Plus I'm on dial-up and my resources are a bit low due to the heavy-duty software I use to create music.
While I do have DirectX9 installed, I did get this message from the direct x diagnostic tool: "Direct3D 9 test results: Display driver does not support API (DDI version too low)" so that explains my lack of a capable graphics card.

constructive critisisim
[1] you need to debounce your coin input, as when pressed you get multiple coins.
[2] i dont know if this is supposed to happen, but when you shoot, the 'explosion' seems to get stuck until you shoot again.

Those two things are fixed and will be out in the next release. I posted a new version that has a working operator screen where you can change things like resolution, bit depth, etc. so you can get a better frame rate. In order to see the new settings you need to exit the game and restart it.

I just had a game idea for space paranoids. Instead of having a endless game like the original arcade, what do you guys think of playing the game as CLU and help Flynn find his missing programs? That way it has some sort of goal that can be accomplished.
If you think that is cool idea or have any level ideas post it!
