Actual location of exterior of Flynn's Arcade

on Wednesday, June, 28, 2006 7:31 PM
Greetings Programs!

It took some CLU-like web searching, but I have discovered the specific street address to the building used as the exterior for Flynn's Arcade in "Tron":

9543 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA (Los Angeles County). The cross street is Watseka Ave. (where W. Washington Blvd. ends).

It was most recently San Gennaro Café (Italian cuisine), but the restaurant has since lost its lease (last year?).

Here's a current day picture; hope this link works when you read this post:

Ask, and ye shall receive...

Martin Fisher and I found it about 3 years ago and took pictures in front of the location.

I photographed the Flynn's sign in the Disney Property building back in 1999.

Many thanks to you both; great photos. Particularly nice is the Flynn's sign in the Disney Property building.

...on a completely different note (yet Tron related), once our props person has finished creating the "Tron Disc", I'll send some photos/press information about our current comedy play here in San Francisco:
"Release the Kraken"
...it's a spoof of "Clash of the Titans" combined with "Clerks"
The Greek Gods on Mount Olympus are controlling the fate of mortals and half-mortals on earth, but Perseus is actually only a modern-day photocopy store clerk.
He and his side-kick Rufus (ala Dante and Randal from "Clerks") are fan-boy styled nerds who constantly riff on the inane;

Percy: And those are the reasons why the movie TRON is ten times better than the Matrix.

Rufus: A good argument indeed but, if that is true, why was there no TRON Trilogy?

Percy: For the same reason there should have never been two Matrix sequels.

...anyway; one of the "Golden Gifts" given to Percy by the Gods is an "Original" Tron Disc (flying disc/Frisbee). He uses it to defeat one of the unearthly beasts he encounters (a two-headed Scientologist/Dioskilos)...

More soon, and thanks again.

Looking for investors? Really I don't have much money; REALLY I don't, but I'd scrape together at least a $1,000 to invest... Got several hundreds of others that can do the same?

The best arcades I've been to (lately) have been in Portland (Oregon). The types of places where you pay an entrance fee and then all the games are a nickel (I'm thinking of one in particular that used to be a movie theatre)... Also a place (sorry, don't recall the name right now) in downtown Portland, split-level, dedicated to old games.
Here in SF we've got the "Musee Mecanique"; the bulk of which is coin operated oddities from 'round 1900 through the 1930's (plus a few "modern" arcade games like Star Wars (vector) and more common ones like Centipede.abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Another SF arcade is Portal 1 in the Metreon, which has mostly modern games (What did you expect, it's in the METREON for Pete's sake!) and one room off to the side with a bunch of older games. Pacman and that sort of thing. :{

Great pic of that neon sign, Dave! Do you have any more TRON-related pictures from the Property building?

No. That's the only TRON item they have anymore. They've sold off or destroyed anything else.

I do have some shots from Wardrobe of the costumes though. Wanna see those?

That's too bad. I wanted to see the Space Paranoids billboard. It probably would have deteriated (sp?) over time, though.

I would love to see some costumes, please!

To be able to turn that building into an arcade would be awesome. ;_;

I'd be so for it.

With you and I together, they'd have a full set of balls. We could then share custody. I'll take the sign on weekends and summers, you get it the rest of the time!
