Wooden dowell to cool painted rod Q+A

I want to change a plain wooden dowell into a really cool lightcycle-program rod (not necessarily glowing), and I have certain aspects to think about. like.....

-What color should I paint it?

-Should I cut it in half or keep it as-is?

-Should I paint it a glowing color?

Just reply witcha answers.

Uhm, maybe people don't have any input? You could try being patient too.

The rods in teh film are 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter and are clear tubes painted white except for the clear exposed area at the top and bottom.

Acyually, I don't really have any plastic tubes, but the white paint.... *murmur, murmur....* thanks for the paint suggestion, DaveTRON! now all I need is the last two thingies.....

On second thought, scratch question 2 ( cut it in half or not). I found a pre-cut dowell and Mercury just uses hers like a disc in for game boy.
