Bending on the Grid : The Legend of Flynn : The Last Tron

on Wednesday, April, 25, 2012 3:10 PM
I was trying to mix the Bending of the Avatar series (Korra/TLA) and Tron, trying to translate the core 4 bending concepts into the World of Tron and I was not having much luck.

So how would you create Bending on the Grid?

Earth :
Fire:
Air:
Water:

Earth: Control of those hexagon things in the Outlands.
Fire: Light stripes?
Water: Control over glowing water.
Air: I don't know

Earth could be the grid itself, good thinking.

Water: Sea of simulation is closest resemblance, but also power is represented as liquid as well.

Fire: The only thing I can think of that would be close to fire is the particle energy you see in the I/O towers.

Wind: Well we did see 'wind' when Flynn was re-integrating with Clu. And when they used the 'hex wings' there had to be some sort of 'wind resistance' so I guess wind is... wind.

Or fire could be what the tank and jet guns use?

Fire: Pure energy, not the liquid kind but yeah stuff like what's in the I/O tower.

Trying to look at this from a more philosophical perspective, taking into account the personalities of the 4 elements as well. It's a difficult task though because you're trying to take the elements that make up a natural world and apply them to an unnatural one.

Fire is eternally hungry like a wolf with a bottomless stomach. It just consumes everything it can until nothing is left, which also makes fire's eating habits self-destructive. So logically, fire would be corruption.

Water in our world is more or less always looked at as life, so in TRON, that should be energy, whether it be in the liquid form they drink or in the energy that powers their devices. 'course there's no guarantee that the energy isn't ALWAYS in a liquid form, and when "electronics" use it, it just runs through pipes instead of wires.

Earth: The building blocks of the landscape, and the raw materials needed to create pretty much anything. So in essence, as has already been said, the grid.

Air: This is a tough one to analyze. We don't even know if air is needed to breathe on the grid or not. Regardless, if we are to give it similar characteristics as what we give it on Earth, then it is literally everywhere and the only way to escape it is to depart from our planet. Perhaps air could also be used to describe not the grid, but that which encompasses the grid. In other words, the actual computer hardware? I dunno, I'm burning myself out at this point.
