Greetings programs! I have been reading the forums for a long time but for some reason the tower guardian wouldnt send me my registration email.

Anyway I was watching legacy the other day and i began wondering if CLU may had any user powers, we know that he cant create programs but he seems to have special abilities that other programs dont share , for example he survived being hit with tron s disc and survived, or in the portal he showed super strenght when he threw sam across the bridge like he was a ragdoll.

BUT we never see him repairing programs or manipulating the grid like flynn did

So,do you guys think CLU has any special powers or am I seeing things ?

He's just a program....

He's can't create programs.. only derezz and re purpose them..

I guess it depends on what you define as "user power" he is definately capable of changing colors like Flynn did back in the first TRON , but Tron and Beck are capable of doing that too.

I dont think administrative permissions have something to do with it , Radia was system administrator in Tron: Evolution and she dindt exhibit any of CLUs powers like super strength or invulnerability

I think the whole "user power" thing tends to be overstated. Sam had no particular special powers (other than bleeding) that we ever saw. The powers Kevin Flynn displayed in and Legacy can be explained in terms of his intimate knowledge of the system gained by being a hotshot programmer in the "real world", not to mention directing the evolution of the system in Legacy plus thousands of cycles during which to practice.

If a data entry operator or other low-skilled user, in terms of programming and system administration, had been digitized instead of Flynn, it's unclear at best whether that user would have displayed "user powers".

I agree with Kat that CLU certainly had high level privileges - it would be necessary for a system administration program - and these would manifest in ways that might resemble "super normal" abilities. (The whole question of "normal" is up in the air, though, when we talk about the Grid. The rules aren't written down somewhere for us, the viewers, so we're left to guess and ponder.)

As for changing colors, it would have been interesting to see what happened when programs "renounce[d] this hysterical belief in the Users" and became soldiers of the MCP. Did their circuits spontaneously change colors? Did they have to visit the MCP's mesa for conversion, something like rectification? Hmm...

Anon's color went from blue to white after Flynn did something to his disc and returned it to him. I totally missed that Quorra changed colors during at the end. I'll have to go back and watch for that.

On the other hand, much of the MCPs army was red, and we are told it's possible for blue programs to switch sides. We don't know what happened if a program did switch. Also the Rectifier can apparently do it. (Blue or white programs go in; red programs come out.)

I think we know less about "color changes" than we actually know. All we really know is that Flynn can make it happen (in various ways), and that it happened without Flynn's involvement, too.

Flynn changing colors in the solar sailer had nothing to do with Tron ,is just that he adquired the red color by touching a red program and recovered the blue color by touching a blue program (which happened to be Tron).

Or at least thats how I see it...

I agree with this guy. That's the impression I got.
