Tron Arcade was the first of what turned out to be
two coin-op titles produced by Bally/Midway. Discs of Tron came out
later as the programming had not been completed in time for the
first games release.
Tron consisted of four games in one. Including
tanks, lightcycles, grid bugs and the MCP. It was more of a success
than the film itself. I remember spending hours upon hours playing
it in the arcades. Wendy Carlos' score for the film was used in the
game as well. For me the most frustrating part was always dealing
with the Tanks at the higher levels.
I now own one which needs some TLC. The
electronics are in great shape but the case and overlays are in dire
need of repair. When I begin working on it I'll post pics of the
process.
