It's always fun to discover a whole community who loves something you thought that you were the only one who liked...

I had an oooooooold copy of Tron on VHS when it originally came out, and i watched it until it pretty much fell apart.
Anyway, after reading through the forums I noticed a few things keep cropping up, and I thought i'd give my take on them.
-Conscripts, Programs, Etc..
There seem to be some who feel that the term 'Conscript' is a term which describes something different than a Program, but the word actually means something along the lines of 'slave.' In other words, a Conscript is merely a Program who has been 'drafted' to perform some other task for the MCP. Same thing will 'Null Unit', except that Null Unit is a rather insulting term...
-The Mystery of Users
There have been several discussions on Flynn's ability to regenerate the Recognizer. My theory has always been that as a human, all knowledge that Flynn possessed, either consciously or subconsciously, was digitized into a single 'file', for lack of a better term. Since he was familiar with the Recognizer program, he was simply re-writing it or re-building (re-compiling perhaps?) it.
In the outside world, this would be accomplished through a keyboard , computer language, etc... Since he was already in a digital state, he could access the code directly. He may not realize how he was doing it, but he was. Subconsciously, possibly. I always felt that Flynn was gradually learning to 'feel' things, much like Programs can feel when their Users are attempting to contact them, or even when something is amiss. (the MCP sensing a 'presence', etc)
Flynn was able to 'feel' that the Carrier was de-rezzing, and was able to keep enough code intact so that they could continue to pilot it. He was also able to 'feel' the fact that jumping into the MCP's beam would be the only way to interface with it directly, and the result it would have.
-Programs
I also noticed a few discussions on why a Tank or Recognizer is a program, and not 'alive' while other programs are. I never really thought about this, but i suppose it could be confusing. The problem is that there is only one word to describe a 'Program.'
Anything a User creates is considered a program, but not all programs are intended to be active and independent. There are programs, and there are Programs. A good example is an Mp3 ripper, encoder. A certain program i like to use is able to rip music tracks from a cd, and also can use outside programs to encode the music to Mp3 format. The plug-in, however, is totally useless and dead by itself, it is simply a tool that the Ripper can use.
Just wanted to share my opinions, at the risk of beating a few dead horses.
p.s. Where does everyone get those cool little drawn user icons? :P
