Today my new treadmill arrived!
The delivery men who brought it, kindly brought it all the way upstairs in to our small "spare" room that I use as my computer area, techno-storage, parakeet's cage, video equipment and makeshift recording studio... and now also the treadmill room. It's quite cramped in here now, but it works.
As the guys were assembling the treadmill for me, one of them noticed my TRON photo - it's basically a 5x7 framed photograph of me looking like... well, much like my avatar. It's this image here:
The guy, who appeared to be younger than the film itself, said "So you're a TRON fan, huh?". I was taken by surprise and quickly answered "Ooooooohhh yeah!" I was surprised that he actually knew of the film. Believe it or not, most people I ask if they liked the film, have either never heard of it, or have just heard of it and can only recall hearing of it after I explain what it's about. And this guy knew the film JUST from my TRON photo.
He said his dad was a big movie buff and loved the film. I talked a little about my childhood memories of this cooler-than-anything film. The conversation was short as he was preoccupied putting my new treadmill together, but I thought it was cool that he knew of TRON and even seemed to think it was cool that I had a TRON photo of myself.
I can't believe I didn't ask him if HE had actually seen the film and what he thought of it. But I would imagine he had seen it and must have enjoyed it enough to get a kick out of my TRON photo.
I just thought I'd share. I mean, I'm so used to most people just not knowing anything about the film or caring about it at all. So this was a cool TRON moment to me.
Anyone else care to share an unexpected and cool TRON moment? You know - when you end up talking TRON to either a perfect stranger, or to someone you never knew was a TRON fan?

I get stopped and talked to about Tron all the time from perfect strangers when I wear my Tron T-Shirt.
Most say "Tron! Cool!" and others my age say "I remember that movie".
Once the water guy talked with me about it while he filled up the container.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

A guy at my workplace is actually named Kevin Flynn. I asked him about it and he said yes, he was aware that a character from Tron was named the same.

Most of my friends like the movie, but we are all old enough to remember when it first came out... or at least hit the Video stores.
Unfortunatly, most people I ask about the movie just give me a funny look.... as one girl eloquently put it, "tha graphics in'at movie SUCKS! It was STOOpid!"
Bah.

Hmmm I wonder if I should do that on my computer at work. but the only problem is with that Blooming Citrix program. (A very bad version wyser terminal program. Bit it looks like your using windows 200 server locally on your workstation in your office. ) ANd I may not be able to see it through that.

IBM are giood machines I'm not knocking them And I've been trying to get into their satelite office up here in montreal for the longest time. They do make some good machines there both notebook and Server series. I haven't personally used their newr workstation. But hey and old 300pl does the same job for a nice small backup server over here.

The only thing I dislike about there machines is Lotus notes. It's a pain in the neck sometimes.
