*Blows dust off of connections and rezes up*
Greetings Programs! It has been well over a year since I posted anything here... Sorry to be away for so long.
My reasons for posting are simple: I seek information.
The answers to this are going to be purely speculative, but I'm working on a design project and I need to know the relative proportions between a Recognizer, tank, and lightcycle in real word dimensions.
I'm guessing that the lightcycles would be about 8 feet long, that a Recognizer is about 60 feet high (this is based on the size of Flynn as he gets tossed out of the cockpit as he crashes and the size of the rco that comes down on Clu), and I'm estimating the tank as being about 30 feet long (based on the size of Clu when he pops out of the hatch after crashing).
Thoughts, opinions?
Once I have the project complete I'll post links.
Thanks -

Hello Again!!
I'd consider taking screen caps with lc and tanks and copying a person in them or beside them, and place the number needed to measure the length of the vehicles.
Like you could measure clu in the tank to get the inside depth, or take the scene where Flynn, Ram, and Tron get out of their lc's. Something like that.
The lc rez scene in the game grid battle would probably work, too.

The cycles are about 1/8 the size of a tank. The tanks fit between the legs of a reco with room to spare (bridge scene), so my guess is the recos are pretty damn big!

You could use my Lightcycle,Recognizer and Tank 3D Canvas models and then size them in proportion to each other to give a sense of scale, I suppose |

Good call on the bridge scene, Dave! ...I had overlooked that reference. That puts the Reco at a scale much larger than I had thought. You're right - that would make it pretty massive. An the lightcyle being 1/8 the size of the tank is also a good call. The scene in which Flynn says he wishes he hadn't "written all of those tank programs" comes to mind for that scale.
Thanks, Dave. And thanks for the warm welcome back.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm currently modeling them in Strata 3D CX. The Reco is done, the lightcycle is near complete, and I'm starting the tank. And time permitting I may even do the Sailer.
...Right now I know the models aren't to correct scale to each other, and this needs to be addressed before composing any of my scenes.

I've looked rather closely at this question too. I still need to make my Recognizer model but I've studied enough frames of the film to see it has the same issues.
In short the relative sizes of the models isn't consistent thoughout the film. Here was a picture I made that compares the tank to the lightcycle.
The lightcycle in the lower part of the pic looks twice as large as the ones in the top pic.
Here are a couple pics that campare the size of my tank and my lightcycle models.

It looks like Carl has the scale of the bike to tank right. I am wondering if I have any drawings by Syd showing that scale? I might. If so, I will post later tonight.
We need some sort of cool scale image showing all of the vehicles in progressing sizes.
How come nobody here has done a logic probe?

Thanks for the reference shots, Carl! That really helps. I appreciate it. Great work, by the way.
Thanks, Todd (I love your video! Nice Tomy Tron insert in the background).
Dave - ...Logic Probe? Hmm, that's a good idea. I may just have to give it a go after this project.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. I couldn't resist putting some classic hand held TRON in there!
Just talking about it kind of makes me want to...
