so i got to thinking the other day: when flynn reactivates the recognizer and meets the bit, he asks the bit
"isn't your program going to miss you?"
to which the bit replies "NO"
then flynn asks
"so *I'M* your program"
to which the bit replies "YES"
and i've always taken it for granted that the bit just attaches itself to whatever program comes along next, but i got to thinking: The recognizer in this scene is probably the one that clu frags just before he crashes, and by extension, this is probably the bit that was in his tank.
could it be that this bit mistook flynn for clu?

I have thought about the continuity of Bit before (from one program to another)... and I think I've thought that it was Clu's former Bit... but I don't think I've though of the "re-use" of the same recognizer thing before.
Actually, it's a different Recognizer altogether that Flynn flies isn't it; because remember he pieces one back together using his User powers? I've always felt the area where he pieced one together was in a completely different part of the grid anyways. No? But then again, as you say... why is Bit there? Brings up a good point, unless all Bits are exactly the same; which would also kinda make sense.
Confusion. I will have to pay more attention next time I watch Tron, even though I've already seen it many upon many times. I hope your theory is correct, though! Brings awesome continuity.
After Flynn crashes it, we see Bit fly back into the crashed Recognizer and the window gets force-field shielded closed. I wonder if Tron Legacy will find a way to repair that recognizer and include it in the film so we see that same Bit again.

That makes alot of sense. I had that impression about bit, but never thought into the recognizer scene as being one he took out.
Flynn ended up near where Flynn instructs Clu Flynn to look for the code he needs, and Clu's former bit finds him nearby.
I like the thought that the recognizers were remenants of battles Clu had in that sector. Fun plot twist! nice work.

I agree with the OP's theory.
When I first saw the movie as a 7 or 8 yo. I always thought the Bit the Flynn meets is the same one that was with Clu, and still thought that to this day.
It makes alot of sense to me that the Bit would be that same Bit that was with Clu. It just "fits" I think.

Where Flynn brings in Ram into the recognizer when they take their rest. And Flyn finally gets it going again. If memory serves me correctly and this is going back to the added features as well when they were discussing the actual shot for that scene where they were going to bring the recognizer out and all that. Where it came together as a whole with the exception of the left or right foot. I think that was some kind of garbage bin or some sort for of reco.
But I think that the bit that CLu had in the tank may or may not be the same one. It may have been a part of the reco itself as well or the tank perhaps?

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Yeah I think you guys are on to something, it seems for that scene, the bit could serve as a function for the machine, that seems logical. It didn't follow him around.. maybe it helps co-pilot somehow? Maybe it's default.. but it's interesting to think otherwise.

Guys, you really need to read the book.
The bit mistakes Flynn for Clu because the resemblance and 'essence' is identical.

Then again, one can discredit the book's accuracy, seeing as how Bit never turns green or shouts "Yeah!"
Not saying I agree, not saying I disagree, just pointing it out.

Hmm, I had never thought about the Clu connection there but it really makes sense now. It's too bad that the bit couldn't tag along with Flynn after the Recognizer crashed, perhaps it would have been too difficult or annoying to keep that comic relief going beyond that point.

The answer is simple. Since it can turn green and scream "yeah!" It's actually a half-byte. That's right.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online
