I was watching The Simpsons the other night, and it was one of those Treehouse of Horrors episodes that they occasionally do.
In it, they had a story where Springfield gets destroy has technology fails and plunges the world into Chaos because of the Millenium Bug (this is mostly Homer's fault, because he forgot to sort it out at the power station).
Anyway, I started thinking about the Grid, and I was wondering: Would the Bug have effected the Grid (when it hapened)?
I assume that, like all computor systems it has it's own time/date counter built into it's system (When Sam wipes the dust of the top we see a clock counting away, if that means anything).
And also bear in mind that no Users have ever even touched it, least of all before/on 1st January 2000.

Assuming we're dealing with the computing world equivalent of Tesla, there was probably a workaround.
It's an entire universe in there, one we created, but it's beyond us now. Really. It's outgrown us. You know, every time you shut off your computer...do you know what you're doing? Have you ever reformatted a hard drive? Deleted old software? Destroyed an entire universe?"

The unix clock doesn't overflow until 2038, so we're fine for a little while until the whole panic thing starts up again.
