was anyone else disappointed that light tanks didnt make an appearance in Tron Legacy? I mean, we had cycles, recognizers, and a lot of other cool Grid vehicles.............but no tanks. (I think there may have been a 2 second snippet where it showed one tank)

There were tanks shown when Sam looked out the bottom of the Recognizer and said, "He actually did it, I'm on the Grid" and I think maybe in the Rectifier there were some shown but they might have been Light Runners.
I think that the Runner replaced the Tanks, since the Runners have weapons and can go "off Grid" and such.
But yeah I like the tanks too and it would have been nice to have seen more of them.

On a side-note, light tanks made quite a few appearances in Evolution. You even get to drive one and blow everything sky-high (one of my favorite parts!). Which makes me wonder why they would be so commonplace just a few cycles ago, but then are almost nowhere to be found in Legacy...

Yeah I found the tanks not making any real appearance in T:L to be kinda disappointing. In fact I wouldn't even count the one Sam saw when he was on the recognizer. And was it even a tank? It had a turret, but it could have been a heavily armored tank-like vehicle on wheels. The US military has said that tanks, due to their loud, slow, high-maintenance treads, are on the way out and that there will never be another main battle tank after the Abrams M-1 is retried. They're moving towards what are essentially tanks with multiple wheels; armored cars on steroids.
It is possible that the computer figured the same and phased out the use of treaded traditional tanks. After all, when Sam is in Tron City and meets Gem, we see such a vehicle-maybe even a couple of them- in the background, and they have wheels. Yes I was looking forward to seeing some Light Tank action..
in Tron Legacy.. but I guess that didn't happen after all!!
I would like to see some light tanks in Tron 3!
and I still have to get Tron Battle Grids for the Wii....
that game has a lots of tank battles etc! LOL
I think I will get evolution for PC...
