Of course, when thinking about (we'll say) .52a as being alpha... and .52b as being beta... there isn't really that much of a significance in the (what I guess we could call) the letter extensions for an app's version number as being equal to the Greek lango (such as alpha numeric.. or whatever they call it).. But does signify the current state of that app's version..

app = program = .exe = etc (just for the sake of this example)
