DaveTRON Wrote:I have removed my posts on the topic. I don't take anything you say personally. I was simply trying to point out from a fan perspective how I feel about the style of some other fans.

That just doesn't work considering my role. I simply won't post in these forums anymore unless it is official info.

I dont belive this to be true. Its good to get your imput as BOTH a fan and a dev. I can see where some people might get confused, but come on...you added a notice in your sig even.

Back to the topic:
I like kia's post! And do agree, listen to cliff and dave when they say...we are trying....isint that all you can ask of them? They HAVENT ignored us, or the rest of the community, and I still think they are doing a pretty good pr job. No BS, just what they can offer us. No it hasnt been perfect, and their has been miscomunications etc, but I dont see how people can get SO worked up over this. I mean, the SDK is something that they put out simple by the goodness of their hearts (or something like that ), you didnt pay for it. Again we should be supportive, not argumentative or obstructionist. If/when the code comes out, good things will happen, and I look forward to seeing what is produced.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Wow that's great news Cliff! Thank you!! Even though its not certain, I am sure it will instill hope in many people!

Kmon, good post, I too agree with it. Just to clear things up, it was not my intention to be "argumentative or obstructionist" at most I was looking for some feedback from BVG, and low and behold it worked! Again, I wasn't making things up, and admittedly it wasn't the most "up lifting" of posts, but then again why lie, and sugar coat it? It wasn't rude, just straight to the point and frank.

Woah Kia, I'm not sure if that was directed at me, but geez, calm down, there is no need to be rude.
I wasn't crying about anything. I wasn't rude, I wasn't insulting, I was just being passionate about the game I love. The game and community are at a crucial juncture. It's plain to see that the game is dying. Without an expansion, release of the code or something else to rejuvenate things the game will suffer an needless death. I am sure that no one wants to see the game dead do they? I mean the reason we are all on this forum is because we love Tron, and Tron2.0 right?

DaveTRON. Why man? I don't understand why you've made this decision. I realize that it must be difficult for you to separate your personal interests from your professional ones, but I figure that if you have something to say, say it, no one cares if you are unable to comment on things in an official capacity. I certainly didn't expect a reply to my initial post from you or cliff. I was just hoping to gage the reactions of the people here, and maybe get a few tid-bits of info that I was un-aware of.

I guess this conversation has gone on long enough and is dead any ways since Cliff's post is what's important now.
Oh man, this is so great. My Christmas wish is that BVG and Mon are able to sort out all the issues, legal or otherwise and get the code released!

Just a little bit tired of people whining, that's all. I tend to snap when it gets to me.

*sighs*

I suppose it does seem so way out of character for me when I snap.

Kia: Cool. I'm a infamous mythological perfect User.

Still waiting...

Well, I decided to 'wait and see'.....it's been about 3 months.

I want to make a few things VERY clear:

1) I do not, nor have I, blamed Cliff or Dave for what is going on at BVI with the game. However, as they are the conduits by which information gets from here BACK UP to management from the fans, I may get brusque from time to time to make my displeasure about management not listening, or responding. But it is NOT directed at any one employee. Even when I was angered, I asked for a response. (and even then, all I got was a 'we can't say anything', which was what I expected).

2) I _DO_ blame the upper management at BVI for Tron2.0 falling to the wayside and being unsupported. This was a game that had so much potential, so much capability....and they apparently don't really care very much about it, now that it's out and they've gotten their initial sales profits. I am very dissappointed in how BVI (as a corporate entity) has failed to properly support a game of this type to date.

Now, with those said, I have waited patiently for three additional months. And what have I seen?

The online player communitity has dwindled to near non-existence (only a few serious fans left)....

BVI re-released the 1.042 patch with the XP-only code removed. No fixes, no additional content. So it wasn't really anything new.

Answers on the tron20.net forums from official sources have posted almost no new information. No word from BVI either about anything new. Not even a hint about expansions, tools, source, models, or anything else.

Yes, BVG has other projects. But having them does not mean that other projects get dropped. Especially a game of this type. I think that this was their first REAL foray into the SP/MP FPS arena, and they didn't realize it takes a lot more long-term support than a standard game or educational title. What they are doing (or have done so far) only convinces me that BVG does not know how to properly support a FPS game community.

I will continue to wait, since that is all I can do. Hopefully, someone can get it through corporate BVG's heads that they need to change how they do support for a game like tron2.0.

Maybe they'll surprise me, and get it right....

(yeah, and maybe Sark will do the watusi in a bikini at Tron's 30'th birthday party....*gets cynical*)
