Hey, Flynn used an apple...

on Saturday, March, 05, 2005 12:20 AM
Greetings programs!

In an effort to help complete my Flynn's desk collection, I've decided to try and get a free apple computer.

As some of you might be aware, a lot of iPods were given away by various internet sites recently - now one of the same sites is giving away new Mac mini computers! (with an investment of something like spending 10 bucks to sign up on Blockbuster for a month or USA Today for $2 a week) If you are interested in a new apple computer, here is
your chance. You are welcome to copy. Enjoy!

Now, to get an old apple III to house it in!

Ya just gotta find one of these! I've got mine on the left side of my desk just like Flynn.

I'm waiting for the technology to mature a little and make the leap to PC. I've heard that even Mac lovers hate the new crabapples. (Crabapples.... cute name ^^ ) I never heard the specifics, but that's what I've heard.

Dang! You have the exact style of lamp shade??? Awsome - I've been looking for years now.

Now you need the same base as Flynn with the half nekked woman!

I would love to have an OS X machine - but I might also use it for LINUX. In the end, I'd just be happy to get a free computer to run MAME on so I can build my TRON arcade cabinet!

I may be wrong about this... but I think the jump was actually from the PC platform to the Mac.

or maybe it's just a big media cover-up to make people think that MACs were the first. 0_o

I haven't heard the specifics, either, but I know of no Mac person who doesn't like the Mac mini. If my current iMac croaks, it's getting replaced with a mini and a 20-inch Cinema Display, so that I can jump to a G5 later.

BTW, folks, the site the original poster mentioned is nothing but a scam designed to get your name and address into a database to get telemarketing calls and junk mail (and junk email, too), and to get you to get all of your friends into the same database. I, personally, would stay far away from it. TANSTAAFL, or, as in this case, AFMm.

Well I'm this close up over here in getting one of these myself. http://images.google.ca/images?q=tbn:b3fYduHf7_sJ:http://www.man.poznan.pl/~bielecki/images/indigo2.jpg and for free on top of it. Its a SGI indigo2 computer.

I would love one of these systems in my hands.

I used to use an Indigo2 as my main user desktop system. It's a nice box. Unfortunately, IRIX 6.5 is a bit behind the times these days, especially when you look at freely available software that runs on it. The systems also tend to be a bit slow when compared to multi-GHz Pentiums.

Free is good, and well worth playing with. I'd recommend playing with it a bit and making sure the software you want to install on it is available before committing to it whole hog.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Nope - While there are sites out there that are just that, this one is legit:

hey - it makes sense - "Compared to larger markets where companies are spending millions of dollars on advertising that doesn't guarantee customers, Gratis Internet is pleased with the number of people who continue with the free trials. Many customers cancel the free trial immediately following its termination. However, many do not, which makes the marketing strategy work."

No junk mail/email unless you ask for it (if you're worried about that, just use an account that you don't care about getting junk mail at)- they are looking to get more business for their sponsors. I understand there were a lot of skeptics when they first did the ipod promotion, but it proved to be the real deal as seen on Tech TV and as reported in the news. Lots of happy peeps with ipods now.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Yeah I know Jay. For me anyways it isn't about the GHZ behind it. For me its just plain being able to learn on such a system. I don't know if you'll agree with me on that. But it is always handy to have the knowledge and the understanding of having a system like that. And being able to just work with what you have gained from such a system. On a system like that for me or on any other system that I can get my hands on its just basically gaining the knowledge for it and being able to put that down on my resume and being able to present to a future employer as an example. And have them say hy. we ned someone like this because we have these kind of systems or similar and he knows a lot about them. So there is not much training required after that.

I know there are a few thing still lft ofr it that I can get off the net as well as the IRIX OS still from SGI that is free for such a beast from their web site. So its not that bad I think And yes free is a good thing too. and yesy your right its a tool to fool around with. Not if I can just get the IT team to get me off that crummy Citirx thing and get me a proper computer I'll be a happy camper over here. ;D

Well there still a little problem with it though. Its only good for people who live and reside in the US. And for those of us who live outsie the US like in Canda and the UK as example. Its kind of fruitless to try and get something like that. It may work well in the states only. But its no good outside of the states.

Just wanted to reiterate about the free minimac/Ipod/LCD sites. Plain and simple, they are flat out scams. The sites are simply collecting data for whatever reason (most likely to resell). There are a couple of sites that have supposedly shipped a freebie or two, but I wouldn't give up my info for the 1 in 100,000 chance that I may receive something.

If you're looking for a great deal, head over to spoofee.com. It is undoubtely the BEST site on the net for saving money. The forums there are some of the best I've seen. Here is a link to them:

http://www.spoofee.com/forums/
If you click on the 'freebie' forum, you'll notice there is a sticky about NOT posting free ipod/computer/lcd sites . Hope this helps.

So far I have yet to get one mailing/spam whatever after signing up. I didn't check the "recieve info" buttons and they aren't sending any. I signed up with Blockbuster and I have gotten cupons for 2 free videos/video games for rent inside BB in addition to the 3 mail rentals (at any one time.)

My friends who have signed up have gotten solicitations (only form reputable companies) and as soon as they clicked "unsubscribe" they stopped.

YES THEY ARE LOOKING FOR CUSTOMERS - That is the whole point! It exactly the same as COMCAST selling cable/internet for $1.00 to get your business - you can cancel later, but at least you have cheap cable for a month!

http://www.FreeMiniMacs.com/?r=15817428
Comanies spend millions of money on advertising to attract customers with no guarentee it will work. Giving away computers is actually a heck of a lot cheaper for them and it does guarantee customers! It's that simple!

Did you read the articles? Did you see the video?

This would be one of the sites that have made good. There are other sites (maybe are legit) but they do want much more from you than this one.

What info are you so worried about? I didn't even have to give a credit card - just the address of where to send the Mac Mini.

Call me a cynic, but it just doesn't add up IMO. After taking a little time to search articles on google, it appears there are some legitamate sites out there giving away some nice stuff. There are also a number of articles out there with a few caveats.

Don't get me wrong, I hope you get the minimac. I just don't have enough faith in the corporate world to buy into the deal .

I would hae toa gree on this with you TinothyXC. And even though I'm up in Canada here. For somethig like that I wouldn't try and give my informationaway for something like that unless I needed somethig like that. nd I find that its very limited to strictly to the states and not everywhere else. Because if it was a viable to do so they would have included it to other countries as well as Neighboring Canada up here and south as well. Where South Maerica.
