Holy cow - I've never heard ANY of that before! At least not on any level that I can remember. When I saw it in the theatre in 1982, it was not surround sound or THX sound or even in stereo - they had a powerful speaker (yes, singular) behind the screen, but that was it. Sad back then. And ever time I've watched it at home on DVD it's only been in stereo and I don't think those channels are very auditable in simple stereo.

I listened to this one a few times and I think you're close; I think it sounds like "Atavistic tendencies must be..." with the last word completely obscured by what seem like footfalls. I'd say a good word to end the sentence with would be "purged."

I just saved the files on my computer from your mac webspace, Lew. Thanks for getting us those audio samples.
I'm short on time right now, but I will archive them in the file archives soon. 
I watched TRON this past weekend, and I listened carefully for the background chatter. I actually heard some of it this time but it was hard to make out because I was only watching it in stereo and not surround sound or anything. But I could make them out, after listening specifically to them.
At one point, I think I heard someone say "pregnancies must be discouraged". What's up with that? Can programs get pregnant?

Hey Lew, could you make a recording snipet of just that explosion sound effect we hear near the end of Tron02.mp3. Always loved that sound effect in the pitcell when all the lights surge.
