Trust me. Flynn did not learn how to be CEO by running an arcade. In hindsight it still baffles me how he would have immediately gotten the job just because people found out Dillinger had defrauded him.
Dillinger was the "Senior Executive VP"(whatever that means). Now I don't think we know if Encom was a publicly traded or private corporation. So Dillinger still might have had to answer to a Board of Directors made up of principal stockholders that were not employees of the company.
Also, there is no such thing as a "degree in COO or CEO". You become one by being experienced in multiple disciplines and demonstrate the ability to lead or manage people and tasks.
Now there are a few real-life occurrences of people starting in the company mail room and working there way all the up to the CEO/Presidents office. They usually start in the mail room while going to college to get a degree.
They also usually did not travel a straight up promotion-promotion-promotion path. They make a lot of horizontal/lateral transfers to work in different departments within the company, sales->marketing, marketing->operations, operations->finance, etc. They then get promoted for being experienced across multiple disciplines.
People like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Mark Zuckerberg are the exceptions to the rule, not the norm. Steve Wozniak was the co-founder of Apple but was very comfortable sitting in a cubical designing circuit boards and writing early code during Apple's early heyday in the 80s.

I would say the reason that encom would offer Flynn the job Dillinger had is simple. Dillinger got his job through fraud. Since obviously no one at encom verified Dillinger's work they could be construed as accomplices to that fraud. A good way to keep it out of court was to offer Flynn Dillinger's ill-gotten gains. It's like legal poetry

Jerrytron, I concur. Also, look at it like this: depending on how well-known ENCOM would have been in the 80s, the whole revelation about Dillinger could have been pretty bad PR for ENCOM - so, in an effort to keep a good image, they probably settled out of court, and gave Flynn a promotion to keep things cool. Companies have done things like that in real-life, though it may not be the "standard" way of doing things.

I was looking a still images from the trailer and noticed that if you look and the imagery of many of the shots, the glowing rings and others, that they look like zeros and ones.
Maybe the symbolic, glowing "zeros" and "ones" make up a hidden message?

If it were a clue...perhaps it would be similar to the blinking light "tron" chestplate...
where the three top lights was the numerical code and the fourth light was a "break"
...so maybe it is 1110 and the fifth "yes" is (not sure).
but 1110 translates to (music?)....something to do with Daft Punk?
I dunno. I myself have been banging my head on this Tron ARG and sometimes overanalyzing stuff to no end...
...but so far most clues on this ARG have been very Blatent and Obvious. Door wide open kind of stuff vs hidden back door.
The hidden code in the still frames of the Event Video seems like the most "hidden"clue solved to date and even that was easy...once you found it....lead to a website with that address code.
The possible "clue" you refer to...I think was way back at the start of this new part of the Tron Legacy ARG...
I wonder if it is still relevant as typically with ARG...if people don't figure things out...the puppetmasters move things along another way.
Perfect example was back during Comicon Flynn's Arcade Event...where people had a hard time figuring out the clue about meeting place "where the numbers end"(or something like that) and then later a more blatant clue appeared in its replacement....as people had trouble figuring it out or was confusing.

On a different line of thought... I was reading this "old stock page" from the Flynn Lives Discussion Boards and there it says that "CEO Kevin Flynn was siphoning massive development funds for a pet project"...
Well, the thing is I don't quite understand the term... What does a 'pet project' refer to? I believe it has to do with a more 'techincal' terminology so I need you guys to be so kind as to explain this. Thanx.

Just the opposite, actually - the term "pet project" refers to a project that's of great interest only to the person or small group of persons working on it. I'd guess the metaphor is how one's pet (dog, cat, budgie, naked mole rat) is only of interest to its owners/"family."
