TRON ride at Disneyland? Ideas-opinions

on Saturday, August, 29, 2009 8:27 PM
No it's not news or a rumor but i'd like to at least make a petition and see some of your ideas.

I'm a big imageeninering fan and quite frankly A TRON ride would kick some serious ass! Look at the intererior for Space Moutain's queue. If Disney took its time a TRON ride could work, but . . . until this happens what would my fellow fans want concerning the type of ride, location, add ons (gift shops and stuff), and music . Guess I'll start.

Location? Obviously Tommorowland would be the optimum spot but where? Maybe ENCOM could get a booth in innoventions and you could "volunteer" to get digitized by getting in line and the ride could be mostly housed underground.

Type? You guys ever heard of the spider man ride at universal studios florida? Same thing Dark ride+ 3d glasses. Be cool if it was like a tour through Encom you ride around in a same sort of Bleacher-buggie thing. You get zapped and transported through the computer world.

Thats I'll I got. I know some people may hate this idea, so if you do please post why.
Thanks.

I think Disneyland already had a Tron ride, and they took it down years ago. I went to Disneyland about 10 years ago, and I think they had just recently taken it down. How recent, I have no idea. A year? two? more?

I think they had a Tron ride already because I remember hearing a recording of the announcer guy for the ride posted on the web. Unfortunately, the announcer didn't sound very Tron-like. Just an average Joe generic recording a narrative that didn't really sound like anyone from the film, and didn't have much of a Tron vibe to it. That's my recollection anyways. Mediocre, at best. But I never saw any pictures or video of this, so I'm not sure what it looked like visually.

For Tron Legacy, I hope they make a new Tron ride and go all out with it.

I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^

I was just some clips of the lightcycle scene in the people mover ride. Not technically a ride.

Ideas/opinions:

World of TRON Peoplemover segment - Disney has been maintaining the people mover track pretty well by cutting away any branches growing onto it. It would make sense if the World of TRON segment were still in the innoventions building. Astro Jets is currently creating some nasty bottleneck situations at the front entrance of Tommorowland along with the combined popularity of Buzz Lightyear and Star Tours. Reopening the Peoplemover with the more reliable LIM propulsion method used at Disney World and moving Astro Jets to it's previous location on top of that station sounds like a very smart idea, as it would heavily reduce traffic at the Tommorowland entrance as well as provide an easy way to promote the new TRON movie.

TRON 3D movie - Could be a replacement for the "Honey I shrunk the Audience" attraction. It's really not futuristic at all and has been dramatically shrinking in popularity after the few past years. TRON is futuristic and has been growing in popularity. However, the entrance to the 3D theater waiting area is close to the Space Mountain line entrance. With Disney planning a new Space Mountain nighttime overlay, combined with traffic coming from the Space Mountain exit and nearby Star Trader shop, it seems like this could cause some nasty bottlenecks.

Flynn's Arcade - This sounds like the most practical and cost-efficient idea. They could re-use the machines they got for the Comic-Con event and whatnot. This would replace or go on the second floor of the "Starcade" building. The only issue I have with this is the lack of mostly anything futuristic about Flynn's Arcade.

ENCOM booth in Innoventions - This is a great idea. Cheap and somewhat cost affective promotion for the movie in an area that it fits in, especially considering that TRON Legacy takes place in modern day. Unfortunately, Innoventions is Disney's way of whoring money out of sponsors, and it's nothing more than a glorified hands-on infomercial. I can't really see Disney moving a sponsor to promote a movie that may or may not sell well. As for the ride being underground, that does sound interesting. It's definitely been done before, Indiana Jones is a great example. It seems that this idea might work better at Disney World's Tommorowland, as they can use the Stitch building for that and display ENCOM products inside, along with a cool little extra-terror-estrial alien encounter reference by naming it the Tommorowland convention center. Or they could just bring back alien encounter, that'd be pretty awesome. That ride was closed because parents took their kids into it and completely ignored the huge "NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13" signs throughout the que line.

Tour through ENCOM in buggy - I had an idea like this a while ago. It was something along the lines of the Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye attraction, but you drive through ENCOM and get digitized. Unfortunately, I just can't really see that working in a believable way. I also can't see Disney doing something like that, considering there's already an attraction similar to it over in Adventureland. However, it seems that such an attraction could fit in better at Disney World's Tommorowland. Replace the Monsters Inc. Comedy Club (which isn't even remotely futuristic) with it, or just bring back Timekeeper.

3D Darkride - Disney's already got a similar ride called Toy Story Midway Madness over at California Adventure. No need for a Disneyland version.

------

Disney is very good at forcing people to think that something is the "next big popular thing". I'm sure they'll do that with TRON Legacy. We can expect lots of merchandise and cool promos.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

QFT.

I remember the people mover ride. It definitely was only a few Tron Light Cycle scenes that didnt last more than a minute as you passed by it. It was pretty neat at the time.

I would love it if Disneyland replaced Honey I Shrunk The Audience 3-D amusement for a TRON 3D instead. That would be SWEET!abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

It would be awesome if the People Mover track was replaced with new hardware/tech and made into a Light Cycle ride where maybe two people sat in on a light cycle replica, buckled in and then would zip along the track with light cycle sounds coming from the replica.

When you pass through the enclosed section a digitization sound and visual fx plays, and then you'll see the T:L environment projected on the walls to look as if your going through the digital world and then visual sound fx for re-forming in the real world plays just as your about to exit the tunnel.

Rocket Rods was a good concept but the hardware of the track needed an overhall to be more reselient and reliable. But with the hardware/tech available now I think an awesome Light Cycle ride could be pulled off.

Can you imagine how awesome such a ride would look at night with a real life light cycle replica zooming along tracks in Tommorow Land?

Heck if not a Light Cycle then a Light Runner (new vehicle in Tron Legacy) replica that seats four people then...

Sounds like a good concept on paper, but the idea of seeing lightcycles driving around on that track outside, along with how long they'd have to close Tommorowland (my favorite section of the park), and considering how unreliable Rocket Rods was, this really doesn't seem like a good idea.

Seeing lightcycles in real life is not an easy thing to pull off. Light Runners barely look digital, they'd probably be the easiest thing to stick on there. Peoplemover was more futuristic-looking. Also, the glow effects wouldn't show at all during the day because of the bright Californian sun.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

Hence why I said that I think they could replace the tracks hardware with new more resiliant and reliable hardware.

As for the daytime thing. Lighting based on El-Wire tech will show up and light up pretty well even in broad daylight I think.

I think that a light cycle or Light Runner ride could be pulled off with current tech and hardware which is vastly better than it was 9 or 12 years ago.

I think the new hardware i.e new high-tech track innards could be installed without Tommorow land being entirely closed. They could only close off a segment of it at a time I think. But leave something line Space Mountain and the gift shop open.

I would agree with Traahn. I remember going to disneyland in florida right next to the epcot center. The annoucer also made a mistake when he mentioned the MCP as well. Which I thought was very odd as we.. It was ashame that they did not try hard enough to make a really good ride out of it. Where it had the themes for it. I guess they took it down all those years later. This was in the mid 80's when I went and I had just turned 16 at the time and I had my permit as well for my driver's license.

When the Extra-TERROR-estrial Alien Encounter ride was still open at Disney World, the building it took place in was called the "Tommorowland Convention Center". The storyline was that an alien company specializing in the technology of teleporters known as "X-S Industries" has come to earth and is showcasing their technology in the Tommorowland Convention Center. I think it would be really cool to see the Stitch attraction go away and have the Tommorowland Convention Center return with ENCOM showcasing the practicality of digitization technology. I personally understood how practical a digitizing laser could possibly be, and I'm sure the same goes for many other TRON fans. I think this ride could help fill that information gap.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

lol I was about to make a thread about this XP Thank God I noticed this one

Well anyways, Maybe instead of a TRON ride they could change the music and lights in Space mountain for a while and call it Space Paranoids (Mountain) [or Cyberspace Mountain though I heard that when making TRON they wanted to avoid the word Cyberspace XP).

I think Disney would take that suggestion more because they did do the Rockin' Space Mountain for a few months which all they did was change the music and lights of Space Mountain to Red Hot Chilli Peppers stuff. Not to mention it would be quicker and cheaper so we can see it soon. :3

Rockin' Space Mountain was rediculously unsuccesful for a variety of reasons, and I really think that overlays really kill the themes of Disneyland rides. It seems that Disney is trying to smack their most popular characters onto rides, like It's a Small World at Disneyland and the ill-fated Alien Encounter and Timekeeper attractions at Disney World. They're essentially removing almost all signs of originality from Disney parks and spilling franchises all over everything.

The MCP Mary-go-round or Hellhole/gravitron, ie, that ride that spins around and sticks you to the walls by centrifugal force, just think, big old MCP at the center interogating the passengers while they are stuck to the walls and have light effects beamed on to them to appear to derez.

LightCycle based roller coaster, since the new lightcycles can do turns and hills.

Remember that old "try to stay on the spinning disco album" ride amusement parks had? Well can do "Stay on the deadly disk".

Solar Sailer monorail, complete with recognizer attack and MCP surge effects.

Sarks carrier based design of shuttle buses from the parking lot and hotels.

Black light night, sell cool tron looking clothing, set up the entire amusement park to shut down normal lighting and have black light everywhere.

Just a few ideas. Never been to a Disney theme park, probably never will.
