UK exclusive Recogniser & Light Cycle distribution thread

on Friday, February, 11, 2011 12:19 PM
To let everone know the situation of the UK exclusive Recogniser & Light Cycles I've been getting for people I thought it best to start this thread.

To date I have posted 1 R & 1 LC last week Monday (31st Jan) to the US.
Last Friday (4th Feb) I posted 3 R's & 3 LC's to the US.
Today (11th Feb) I posted 1 R to Canada.
On Monday (14th Feb) I will be posting 1 R & 1 LC to the US, still waiting payment for a LC.

The services they were posted by say from 5 days, which I found out today that means 5 working days and any posted on a Friday afternoon are held in the post office until the next Monday when Parcelforce will collect them (gee, thanks Parcelforce...) The services used do have compensation for the value of the packages.

Of the two posted on the 31st Jan it appears one has have arrived (will get confirmation on that) and the ones posted on 4th Feb aren't due to arrive until next week.

I'll keep this thread updated with progress, when you receive yours please post here.

Thanks, Rid.

UPDATES:
Please message me when you receive your toy so I can update this post.

So far I've posted:
6 Recognisers; 1 on 28th Jan, 3 on 4th Feb, 2 on 14th Feb
5 Light Cycles; 1 on 28th Jan, 3 on 4th Feb, 1 on 11th Feb

Arrived (that I've been told about as of 4th Mar 2011):
All 6 Recognisers
4 Light Cycles, the first of which was posted on 28th Jan and arrived 28th Feb - meaning the magic delivery time seems to be 4 weeks, in other words Homeland Security's new safety measures have delayed them by an extra 18 to 21 days

The last thing I want to happen is have people start thinking they sent out their money for nothing, I didn't buy this little lot for myself - I don't have that amount of shelf space to display them all

How much is it again for a Recognizer? I remember it being pretty high because of the exchange rate. Also I don't suppose there's anything you're looking for (doesn't have to be Tron) in which a trade could be made? I've got lots of moc Ghostbusters for instance.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I saw on the DisneyStore twitter feed that someone was complaining that the pullbacks seemed to be gone from stores. The president responded that they were pretty much sold out everywhere.

I was nosing around on the Disney Store UK website and both the Light Cycle and Recogniser were on there this morning. Not sure if they are really in stock but they seemed to be online. I know they don't ship to the US but it's encouraging since I thought last week they were gone from the website?

Good to hear another Recogniser has arrived, I expected the Light Cycles will take a little longer because they were sent with a different service.

Zuse, unfortunately I'm not planning on getting any more Recognisers or Light Cycles.

Funnily enough one of the most difficult aspects of getting & shipping the toys is trying to find lots of large enough cardboard boxes to post them in, the Post Office sell boxes that are ridiculously expensive for essentially just a bit of cardboard and they don't have any large enough for a Recogniser anyway, and most shops flatten & dispose of their boxes as soon as they're not needed anymore.

Seems like a good thread for some Recogniser pics. I finally spent some time with the set tonight and noticed some small differences in the vehicles compared to the diecasts. Overall the set is very impressive, for a few different reasons.

Diecast on the left, plastic on the right. The plastic lightcycles are all just a bit smaller than the diecasts, it's noticeable but not bad. Like noted before all have working wheels. Somehow I missed some of the details though. Sam's lightcycle body is narrower while his legs are a little more pronounced. Also, the 'connections' where his hands and feet meet the wheels have a different amount of detail. Also, you can see the 3 detailed on Sam's helmet (barely) and his hands are also detailed. There is a little light detail on the arms and legs as well that isn't there on the diecast. Overall the diecasts are nicer, but there are some nice touches on the disney plastics that aren't there on the spinmaster diecasts.

Here's Clu. You can't really tell in the pics but disney plastic Clu is noticeably gold. His bike is really fat towards the end, you can really tell the differences between Sam and Clu's bike, it's more apparent in the disney plastics than any of the spinmaster models. Makes me think they are closer to movie representation. Check the headlights on the right hand bike, I would have never noticed that the lights aren't right on the spinmaster bikes unless someone here pointed it out.

Here are the lightrunners. This piece was surprisingly impressive (shown beside the Toys R Us variant.) You can see the chrome detail on the nose. There aren't quite as many other touches but there are quite a bit of differences. The nose piece doesn't rotate and it's a slightly different shape. The back end also takes a bit of a different shape, and there is no light detail on the side or back of the disney plastic.

Three Man Light Jet, disney plastic in the front. Both of the light jets have less detail than the diecasts. Not much to say about this one.

One man light jet, disney plastic on the right. This one has a little face painted on the operator. Otherwise it's pretty similar with a little less detail. Hard to tell in the pic but both have a little different 'markings' on the plane (not light detail but other imprints on the wings, you can kind of see one of the patterns in the flash on the disney plastic.)

Here are the Kevin Flynn light cycles. Disney plastic at the bottom, the diecast in the middle, and the skinny one at the top is the usb stick. Anyway, this one is really impressive. The overhead shot shows some of the 'shape' of the disney plastic. The Sam and Clu cycles both have this type of detail in the width of the vehicles. The windshield of the disney plastic is a little different too.

Hard to take a good shot of it but here's my favorite detail. The little disney plastic KF has the number painted on one of the side panels, so cool.

I'm in love with this set. It makes the US recognizer look pretty bad (although functional.) The Recognizer was my favorite vehicle in the original Tron so I can't explain how excited I am to have a full size replica. The US set was nice for what it was, but it obviously pales to this one in terms of accuracy. The fact that this one lights up and makes a Recognizer flight noise/warm up noise is just icing.

Disney really did a good job with the little vehicles (tanks are beyond awesome but those have been well documented.) I just wanted to share some of the details for others who aren't able to obtain the set.

Sorry to hear they didn't treat the package as well as they should, the Recognisers were sent by a service that has compensation for loss/damage, I say it's worth trying to get some money from them.

So far 5 Light Cycles and 6 Recognisers have been posted.

4 Recognisers have arrived, the other 2 are expected to arrive within a week.

The Light Cycles however were posted by normal Small Packet Airmail rate and have yet to arrive.
I've just read this on http://www.royalmail.com/internationalupdates which would go some way to explaining the delay. Over the years I've never known Small Packet Airmail items take longer than 10 days to the USA, until now:

"Update 15th February 2011:

The United States Department of Homeland Security is continuing to require increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines. As a result, some mail entering the USfrom around the world, and including the UK, that would normally be sent via passenger aircraft must now travel by other means, including ships and cargo planes.

Most items, including personal letters and cards, magazines, CDs, DVDs and lightweight packets, will be delivered in the USwithin a few days of posting. However, there are delays of about two weeks for some heavier packets. These delays are currently affecting stamped items, franked items, and items posted under contract, with the exception of Destination Sort and/or M-Bag items.

Royal Mail is very sorry for these unavoidable delays. We have implemented a number of contingency plans to ensure as much of our customers’ mail reaches the USas quickly as possible and are continuing to work to minimise disruption to our customers, whilst ensuring we comply fully with the USdirectives and regulations."

Basically you guys are too paranoid! Sorry for the delay, you'll have to give it another couple of weeks I guess.

I've just checked the UK eBay seller discussion forum to see if anyone else is having problems with US airmail delays - they are, and it's not good at all.

Someone posted on 12th Jan that their US buyers are complaining that they haven't received their package after a month of waiting, so god knows what the situation is like now.
Some sellers are now blocking US buyers from bidding due to the airmail delays.

The only way to avoid those delays is to ship by FedEx/UPS/ParcelForce etc. who use their own network of transportation and don't rely on passenger planes to ship stuff.

It appears only packages going into the US are affected, I've had two parcels from the US which were sent by normal airmail arrive in about a week.

edit: found this notice dating back to Nov 26 2010 - http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201011260956252.htmlI really wish I'd known about this before I started posting stuff off where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I've got to go to the post office tomorrow so I'm gong to grill them on the situation, with large & heavy parcels sent by Small Packet airmail actually being sent by cargo ship, it means they're essentially charging the wrong postal rates, Small Packets posted by land is about 60% the cost of sending by air.

The information about Homeland Security's paranoia going into overdrive and scanning packages more thoroughly which is causing severe delays isn't shown on their price guide section of their website when pricing up for America - why the hell not, it's the perfect place to let customers know about potential delays, and the past couple of weeks I've been going in and posting these large packages by Small Packet airmail the staff weren't given the delays to America information on their screens either.

I hate this because it means the 5 Light Cycles I've posted won't arrive for weeks and it makes me look bad, I don't like it when people are annoyed at me and I don't like it that the post office are so inept on letting everyone (staff+customers) know such an important piece of information.
It's not like the delays have just started, this has apparently been going on for the past 3 months.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Wow that is a bummer. I'm patient...but I'm worried about what kind of condition the item will arrive in! How many hands will it pass through. How often will stuff be stacked on top of it. How often will it be thrown around. I feel the longer it's in the mail system, the greater the chance of damage. I can confirm about delayed shipping from the UK to the US. Someone I know from the UK sent my Recognizer set on January 18th, still nothing to this date. And what's worse, the UK CN22 customs form does not have a number on it for tracking like the US ones do. Hopefully soon.
