I used to be a collector but I learned in my last move, you can't hang on to everything, and when you try to sell it, just because it means something to you, doesn't mean anyone else wants it. SO....how many of you save your buys in the oiriginal boxes, versus those like me (now),who take them out to display or play with. I just received some die-cast models and I want to save the boxes for the explanations but still take out the models to display in my lawyer's case alongside my Star Trek and Space: 1999 ships. Thoughts?

I opened the boxes carefully so that the products can be sealed back up. Probably wouldn't help the re-sale value too much but at least I've still got the original packaging. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Yeah, I thought about doing that too, and just storing the boxes away for now. I have no plans to sell off in the near future. I just recall reading where some folks here were buying two of things so they had one to keep sealed, an expensive proposition at best.

I'm collect figures for myself, not to sell, so I always take them out of the box. I love having figures on display in their full glory. Resale value means nothing to me.

I collect toys, not packages.
I do keep the cardbacks when they are specific to each character, but I don't feel the compulsion to do the same if the cardback is generic, like those international release ones used for the Tron figures.
Vehicle boxes are usually thrown away or recicled into something else. My current custom Recognizer project will take up a good number of cardboard to complete.

Yeah, collectors hoard enough stuff MISB that very few things are really worth significantly more down the road.
I'd say of the Legacy toys, the items that will be worth more than today's retail down the road will be the Clu bike, the Kevin Flynn discs, the 2" Series 2/3 guys and the UK pullback & recogniser (assuming none of these see a broader US release).

I do both. I have (at least) one opened and one in the package, assuming I like the look of the package or whatever's in it. For the Tron line, I *think* I have one of each both opened and in the box. I try to wait until clearances or sales to get as many of my seconds as possible, though. The main problem other than financial is space. Boxed items take up SO MUCH friggin room. And now that every company out there has to make special or unique boxes, it makes storing them a PITA. I mean, really, what's so wrong with square boxes? :-P

This. I keep boxes just because the box art is cool though.

I personally open all of them. I play lightly and for all intensive purposes my figs/toys are displays. I generally replace a display toy if i've scratched, broken, or loosened it to heck.
Its my personal belief that a full display set will still resell for close to its purchase value, therefore if youre just trying to cover your investment when you get out it, bored with it, replace it, or get married, you can expect to get at least 75% of what you paid all that time ago. To me this is worth opening, and enjoying.
A buddy of mine from high school collected Resident Evil 2 figs. He had the full run from ToyBiz and Pallisades, all opened on his desk. last year sold on ebay for a bit more that what he invested almost a decade ago. (so he claims)
I recently had a bout with what i call "obsessive collecting" no offense. The need to have minty items either NIP, MOC, shrink-wrap on, graded, etc. Theres nothing wrong with it, in fact as a professional or veteran collector its a good idea if you can afford the money (as i am not, and do not have), time, and storage space to keep items shelf/store ready. More than likely turn a nice profit on top of your return on investment. But as it stands now, I may one day sell a full set of open minty toys. I highly doubt i will complete my 2nd set of new in package toys.
my 2c. i feel inbetween the collector and buyer.

I guess it's hard to guess what will have value in the future. Things that I thought would be rare due to breakage and usage (like books which I kept in pristine condition), didn't fetch much money, yet a die-cast Eagle from Space : 1999 I had unboxed, received an offer of $40 back in the 80's! I didn't sell it.
Ok, so I ended up unboxing, saving the back cards for the descriptions, & displaying my new toys. :-)
2 years ago I bought the DVD season set of The Tudors for $24.99, watched it, and resold on ebay for $25. Not a bad deal I guess. Got my money back after viewing. The toy industry is so very different, and I don't care for figures anyway. No matter if I lose interest in any show in particular, the ships and vehicles I will always love.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

NISB...
Depends on the collectors group, though. Star Trek Collectors tend to like New In Sealed Box.
This guy that owned a collectors store had the original Star Trek Walkie Talkies sealed (with only tape back in the day - I had them as a kid and used them).
His Wife broke the tape seal to take pics of the units.
The value went from $400 to $150...
Apple Collectors will take anything - mainly because new or with the box may be unaffordable, where as loose you can at least get your hands on one (like the original iPod).

There are multiple generations buying Tron toys. You are safe to assume from here on out.

Things I just buy for the fact that they're toys, I open, and rarely keep the package. That's stuff like superhero action figures. When it's a more specific collection, like Tron, I don't bother keeping all the cards, but I keep all the boxes for the vehicles. My experience with being a toy collector is that action figures will lose value and become almost worthless loose - exceptions are rare - but with vehicles, sellers who have the box and manual can usually get more for them. And in 50 years, when my Star Wars toys are antiques, the fact that I still have the boxes for every single one of my Power Of The Force vehicles will make them much more valuable, just like old electric trains and tin toys with their boxes now are valuable.
Bottom line, though, my core philosophy is this: they're toys - do what you know will make you happy.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

And we have to assume the world will be around in some form of today's society. 50 years is a looong time.

Assuming the world doesn't resemble the future from the Terminator films, I'm betting toys will still be worth something.

Whenever possible, I like to buy two of each so I can have one to open and display/play with and another still in it's box or on it's card, not because of the monetary value of the unopened toy but because most of the time the packaging is designed to show off the toy (especially clear windows/packaging) giving it an added asthetic value that a loose toy doesn't have.
Hence why one of my walls has almost 30 carded ReBoot figures/toys on it, but unfortunately the wall isn't big enough to display all the carded ones! Most of the collection (loose and carded) is in boxes because there's so much.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I consider packaged vintage figures to be mental torture so I try buying them on Ebay loose and complete whenever I can. With new toys, I prefer displaying them instead of keeping them in the package. I am however very careful not to loose accessories or weapons and keep the items complete. I try to keep the cards and packaging, but I eventually throw them out. It's just me.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Question to Tron collectors who keep everything MISP/MISB (Mint In Sealed Package/Box): For those figures/vehicles with batteries in it(e.g. Deluxe Clu, Light Runner), don't you have to remove them from the packaging to remove the batteries for long-term preservation anyway?
