That does give me a little more hope. Not as much as how confident Bruce Boxleitner has been lately. His recent interview clips make it sound like a done deal. My feeling is they're waiting to see how the TV series does.

I just watched the newest Star Trek film again last night, and I couldn't believe what a great job they did infusing life into that series. I kinda wish J.J.'s Bad Robot would write and direct the sequel to Legacy, too. I know there's a couple of the same people involved already, but it seems like they are freelancing for Disney, rather than acting as a concerted team effort.

Avoiding a disastrous sequel is my biggest hang-up with the TRON franchise. If, for some reason, Peter Jackson's The Hobbit is anything as drab as King Kong, I'm giving up watching movies ... okay, wait ... no, you're right, just knock on the sky ... Bilbo will be awesome, and so will TR3N.

Last I heard Disney already hired a new writer to helm the script for Tron 3 and got rid of some of the LOST boys (some would know whom I'm referring to). I think the team of writers will whittle down to about 3, no more than that. Last time, it was about 6 people who wrote Legacy together. The more writers band together, the more creative infighting and compromises are being made, and it'll turn into a mess.

Not to continue the derail, but photos and even video of on-set filming for Trek 2 is online, including a shot of the new villain and Zachary Quinto battling each other, at Total Film. I'd rather not look too hard, though, I don't enjoy spoiling movies beforehand. But at least it's proof the movie is under production.

And if the production schedule for Legacy is any indication, TR3N would be lucky to have a holiday 2014 release. If I remember right, they said principal photography took only 60+ days to shoot, but SFX required almost two years. Hopefully if a script materializes by the end of this year, we'll see TR3N before the next winter olympics.
