I would hope for the same, but they brought Cora into the real world at the end of Legacy. That is HUUUUUGE. It's such a lofty concept to bookend a movie. I can't help but think they will expand on that, and we could see more going on in the real world just to keep the story moving. I mean... an ISO on the back of a motorcycle in the real world? Where the hell do you go from there???? Whatever it is, if you keep that idea going, it has to be in the real world.

I just hope it's not a Recognizer blowing up the White House, which is what "mainstream appeal" can sometimes mean. TRON is known for it's "world", so it 's not like the GRID won't be there. I just think there may be more overlap than we've seen so far.

I agree. BUT, if he means by broader appeal, he might be talking about programs finally being all over the place as in the internet. Remember, in Legacy, it did'nt take place on the internet but in a closed server that was cut off (although how Alan's pager rang from there is still a mystery).

Anyway, I think the new challenge is Tron and the other cast of character programs dealing with the reality of the internet that is everywhere from smart phones, tablets, PCs, and so on. How do they deal with that?

Keep this in mind, when Quorra arrived to the real world, she's going to experience computers and the internet for the first time in the way humans have interacted. She'll look at the iphone, for instance, and go "Hmm..I can feel the programs inside it!". I would'nt be one bit surprised if she's, "digitally sensitive". She's going to be in great cultural shock that programs are no longer confined in one singular Grid (Kevin's basement system) but rather all over.

And the way to do that is to transfer the Grid data from Sam's smartphone memory card into the ENCOM server, or his own private lab. In fact, if the writers are smart, they should have Sam re-invest in Flynn's arcade and reopen it for today's gamers.

I've seen a gaming place in Vermont where it had PCs set up all over in LANs for World of Warcraft and other titles. It was incredible. But the place went out of business sadly. This was about 4 years ago. So in that sense, Sam could do something like this, however he would be too busy running ENCOM as CEO, though, on the other hand. He could reconstruct his father's lab.

There's no way Sam would be THIS stupid to leave the Shiva laser there. He's gonna have to use it or safeguard it somewhere.
