Re: Iron Man movie - 5/6/2008 2:15:34 AM
I was watchnig the credits and it said:

"Obadiah - Jeff Bridges"

and I was like WTF.

I looked it up later and sure enough he shaved his head, grew a beard, and gained a little weight just for the movie. Indeed, Jeff Bridges is very much a different man than he used to be.

I knew Jeff Bridges was in it, and him being one of my favourite actors, I spent the entire film leaning over to my friends and saying 'it's Jeff Bridges!' every time he was on screen.

Such examples were, 'it's Jeff Bridges smoking a cigar!', 'it's Jeff Bridges on a Segway!' and 'it's Jeff Bridges being revealed as the bad guy!'. My friends started to get a bit annoyed by the end of the film.

I was one of those friends and can honestly say he rarely missed telling us all when Jeff Bridges appeared on screen. Despite the constant 'Look at Jeff Bridges!' in my ear, I thought it was a brilliant film which is so far unrivalled by any other comic book film. It was purely amazing and I could watch it over and over again.

I already knew about Jeff Bridges, but the trailers was on TV, which my friend was watching. Jeff said about one line, I stopped in my taacks and said OMG IT'S JEFF BRIDGES? They ask Who? And from the look I give tem, they know... TRON

Re: Iron Man movie - 5/6/2008 6:19:59 PM
I have to say that this is the best Marvel movie EVER. They made the suit look JUST LIKE IT DID IN THE COMICS. They actually TOOK TIME TO MAKE IT GOOD.

Yeah, it payed off. I saw it twice

I actually kinda didn't really Obediah was Jeff Bridges until he started screaming about Tony Stark building the first iron suit in the cave...and it sounded like Flynn...lol.

Robert Downey Jr looked even better than he normally does for some reason...I'm not too sure. He's an amazing Tony Stark, though.

AND AND AND...

The music was cool. I should get the soundtrack. One of my favorite songs was on that movie...made me smile... ^^

AND AND AND...

The thing TRON.dll said about the start of the end credits...I'd have to disagree. I thought it was rather pretty with all the lights and stuff. Maybe that's just me...I dunno.

//SPOILER!//

Did anyone wait after the credits?! SAMUEL L JACKSON! SAMUEL L JACKSON! OMG! OMG! THE AVENGERS MOVIE IS GOING TO SO RULE!

//END OF WHAT I NOW REALIZE ISN'T MUCH OF A SPOILER//

And now I'm done fangirling. ^^

Just saw it today!

I've gotta say, this movie was AWESOME! And I also noticed that a lot of the CGI animation was done by Industrial Light and Magic, which I believe also worked on , right?

Anyways, it was an awesome movie. Some parts were a bit gruesome and detailed, but no exploding heads or the like.

Special effects were top-notch, although a trailer for "The Happening" kinda freaked me out before the movie.

Overall, I give it 8/10 Build Points.

PROS:
-Fantastic Special Effects
-Real F-22's
-Lots of explosions
-Good jokes

CONS:
-Ending seemed a bit rushed
-Some scenes not for the weak stomached
-The song "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath is in the movie (more specifically the beginning of the credits), but it's only the ending part, which is partially cut off.

So, the movie's not as good as Michale Bay's "Transformers" movie, but hey, that's pretty hard to beat. This movie is still pretty awesome, but I personally liked "Transformers" better.

What do you all think?

I disagree with you on the ending. I think it didn't feel rushed at all! Loved how it ended, and I loved the part after the credits!!!

I give it a 10/10. >_>

Just got back from the theater. Loved every moment of the flick!

So many things in the film felt so right and in character. I cannot complain at all about the film. I felt it was worth the ticket price and it didn't feel lacking as some films I've seen at the theater. It delivered. Oh man, seeing how the technology develops and works is just beautiful. Getting this film when it hits dvd. Wonder if they'll do an art of book for the film. It needs one with as in depth as they went into the technology. Going to be a SWEET visual mechanics study. I agree with Kia and Lurkinghorror. BEST MARVEL MOVIE EVAR! Iron Man for the WIN!

When the footage after the end credits rolled the girl sitting behind me belted out: "Oh my god, I got a nerd boner!"

Well I finally got around to seeing Iron Man. I have to say, I was really impressed by it. Possibly the best superhero movie to date. Spiderman 2 and Iron Man are about neck and neck, with me. I haven't seen Batman Begins yet, though.

I've read that the Director allowed Robert Downey Jr. and some of the others to do a lot of improvising in the film. A lot of the lines weren't scripted and just made up on the spot. But you wouldn't even notice.

I think thats what makes it good. In the comics Stark is a lil random at times in things he does, and that trensfers well in the movie. Batman was good but it was a big let down in some ways if your a fan of the comics. Whats with DC changing there comics when they hit the big screen? They do it and they are poor yet Marvel keep them the same and oh look ppl cant get enough of them!

The wife and I saw it last night and we loved it. Iron Man is definitely the best Marvel movie yet.

I'm really hoping The Incredible Hulk is another huge success for Marvel, because that would mean that we'll get to see many more of our favorite Marvel characters grace the big screen.

POSSIBLE SPOILER:
Not only that, but finally we'll start seeing crossovers, which would give any true Marvel Zombie a nerd boner!

Did anyone notice a very subtle nod to Tron in the climax of the movie? Tony Stark was hanging onto a circular window frame and Jeff Bridges' character was firing at him. The camera angles and the way Tony Stark was hanging onto the platform reminded me of the Jai Alai scene from Tron with Crom and Flynn. :O

Thank god I wasn't the only fraking person on the face of the earth to notice that. First thing I did after I got home was do a google search for an Iron Man TRON reference and I couldn't find one. So I figured the guys over at the VIEWASKEW forums would have seen it but no one.

I'm going to see the movie again tonight, so I'll snap some pics with my camera when the scene comes back again and hopefully post them here. I'm glad that simbeau acknowledged my post.
