Whenever TRON-Sector member watch TRON, we come to this thread and post a response starting with PING!.

It's just a fun and nerdy TRON thing we do.

Kind of neat to see when everyone watches it.

Hopefully it'll be me next - January 3rd is my Tron-iversary - marking a year since I watched Tron and my obsession began! And what will I do to commemorate the occasion?

Watch it again!

I hate Sark. He scares me so bad.

RAM has been my favorite since my first time seeing the movie. It's still sad when he dies...

That's why I bring him back as a 2.0 in my fics. order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

In the real world, RAM is temporary memory and gets deleted when you turn off a computer. In the fic, you should make RAM be ROM so he won't derezz every time the computer gets reset. Otherwise, he'll forever be at the mercy of a careless user who powers down the computer every night.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlinewhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

PING!
My best viewing yet! Our family isn't one for splashing out. If we were to have a family motto, it would be 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Hence why we had a fairly small CRT TV with built-in speakers as our main TV for several years. But that TV did break, so we bought a new, 32" flat screen LCD TV with 5.1 surround, and I've been itching to watch Tron on it.

So I just did.

And it looks and sounds 100 times better on it! Absolutely brilliant - the Lightcycles sound even more intense, the music is much more vibrant, the colours are a lot sharper and the booming sub woofer gives the Recognizer a very menacing undertone! My dad walked in towards the end of CLU's escape (when he's being chased by Recognizers) to exclaim, 'bloody hell - is that the film? I thought it was thundering outside'!

Like a fine wine, this film improves with age. Unlike a fine wine, it also improves the more you watch it. If a fine wine did that, and improved the more you drank it, it would only work on people who had an acquired taste for urine.

Has anyone else ever noticed - at the end of the ring game with Flynn and Crom, Flynn and the guards are walking away when the rings disappear. But then, the path they are walking on also starts to disappear, while they are still on it! The camera cuts just before it reaches them. It's a bit hard to explain, but you'll know what I mean if you watch it.

PING!

I just got done watching it. I haven't seen it in a while. This movie never gets old.

I had to watch the Light Cycles a few times because that part is just breath taking. Talk about a great movie...order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I only watched parts of it though. I can't get enough of the lightcycle sequence!

Yeah, I know what you mean. You gotta pause the DVD to like the last frame of that shot in order to see more closely. It looks like Flynn and the guards are floating in midair.

BTW, I found something really funny in the shot where the Solar Sailer goes through the mulitcolored tunnel. If you pause the DVD after the Solar Sailer has gone completely in the tunnel, look closely at the wall and you can see "shadows" of the Solar Sailer and the tunnel through the wall. You might have to mess around with your TV's settings in order to see it more clearly. I'll see if I can post a picture.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I saw that as well. I also noticed a similar thing on Sark's Carrier - in the shots where it passes really close to the camera, you can see 'through' it to a faint silhouette of the other side.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

There's no reason why he couldn't have grasped the controls really quickly... a nice thing about tronland is that ultimately the laws of physics are arbitrary/decided by the programmer.

I've freeze-framed through TRON about three times in two days trying to capture screenshots for the various ambiences so I can replicate them in the game.

Independent game programmers for the win!

PINGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

All this talk of watching the movie got me to slip it into the ol' comp and play it yet again. The credits are playing as we speak (that song by Journey is playing right now...)

And a small "ping" for listening to the old story record. (I got one of those record/CD/tape/radio sets, so I can now play my records again...)

I need to dig up the novelizion. You can learn a lot of things in the book version of a movie that you can't from the movie, itself.

Example: The movie doesn't say so, but in the book, the half-tunics that both Flynn and Crom wear mark them as novice warriors.

Hmmmm....more lines on the disc, more information the program has learned, maybe?

Here's a thought: Ever wonder if Crom and Ram's Users ever made back-ups of their programs? (I'm surprised Flynn didn't do it for Clu...). If so, then they can be re-rezzed, good as new.

Of course, that also means that Sark and the MCP can also be recreated...

Uh, oh...

That would be bad, we certainly don't need another MCP.

Well, since I've watched Tron like an infinity and never PINGed. I'll make up the grade.

I'm suprized Sark doesn't actually squash anyone when he becomes a gaint like that.

Tron is so Tronarific.

I'm cold and calculating. Don't press my buttons.

Ya know, I would _like_ to ping in here more often, but I'm one of those people who can't see the same thing too many times in a row. I mean...if I saw Tron too often it wouldn't still feel kinda fresh and new, and we wouldn't want _that_ to happen. Same for anything I love, really. If I see it too many times in a row I may actually (gasp!) make myself sick of it. Temporarily, of course.

Still, if seeing the "Making Of" thingie counts...and if it also counts that you saw it _before_ you signed in here, but shortly-ish before, then...ping. Not worthy of a whole PING! I don't think, but ping.

Speaking of wanting to be digitised/not wanting to leave that world, oh, yeah. I know what you mean. That movie just puts you under this _spell_. Even with the graphics looking "primitive" by today's standards (although I grew up with videogames from when they were really young, too, so to me, there IS no one way that computer graphics "should" look), it just completely sucks you _in_. I can think of no movie (that I've seen, anyway) more truly..atmospheric! It really draws you into its world, and coming back out at the end is kind of a jolt.

You want to know how much of a geek I am? I can tell YOU guys this because we're all kindred spirits here. The first time I saw the movie, my wanting to "not leave that world" made me go into my room, find the most computery-sounding '80s music I had within easy reach, put it in and then _turn the lights off_, so it was pitch black. Then I danced around like a dork. I think I also put on the space heater so I'd have something glowy in the darkness, too. And it was SUMMER! :P

After that, I was at least partly off in my own little world during school-hours (and other times) for quite a while. I went around putting END OF LINE on the ends of all my assignments--including important ones! I drew a couple of small pieces of fan-art, and one that grew into a _poster_--or mini-poster anyway, and I ended up doing the black background with _paint_ when my black magic marker died on me. I wrote that poem "The Users". I dug into my mom's old scifi magazines for anything I could find on the movie (and then, just recently, passed it on to you guys.)
And for my creative writing assignments, I got away with _sneaking_ a bit of "Tron" into school by having my main character of a sort of short-story series be a guy with the last name "Bradley" who worked at a high-tech corporation that also had a "research lab" in the basement, and in another story in the same series there was a scene with this rather wacky character playing "Space Paranoids" on her laptop PC. :P (No, you don't want to read these. They're very bad.)

I didn't see it when it was new--I was too little then, didn't know enough about computers/video games, and a lot of it would've gone over my head. By ten years later, when I had owned a computer for years, done some of my own (BASIC) programming, owned two videogame systems and was looking at a third, knew about the Internet, and many of the things in the movie were actually coming _true_! Not to mention I had already met a couple hologram characters in other sci-fi things, so the concept of software people didn't phaze me at all. By THEN, I was exactly right to see it.

But I wish I could've seen it in the theater. I wish I could see it in _any_ theater NOW. All of you guys who have, you're so lucky. I've only ever seen it on TV. If I could go back to 1982 for one day, I would _so_ make sure that was one of the things I did while there. I'd also very much get along. I'm a Child of the '80s; I love the music, I already have some rather '80sish fashions in my closet...I bet I could get by for a day in 1982 without giving my game away. Heh.
