Alright, so it's early yet and there are no guarantees there will BE a Tron 3. But I'm hoping there will be. It seems Legacy sets up a few things for Tron 3... or at least plants some seeds they could use if they need to.
What do you guys think/hope we'll see?
Since Legacy was about Flynn, I think Alan/Tron might feature more in 3. At the end as "Rinzler" disappears into the Sea of Simulation, his lights turn blue. I really think he survived. Maybe 3 will be about his redemption? Actually, Tron: Redemption might be a cool title!
I also imagine Edward Dillinger might show up. It seems strange to cast Cillian Murphy in such a small cameo role if there wasn't the possibility of his return. Since he seems to be a computer genius and may be disgruntled once Sam and Alan take Encom back - I can see him hacking into the Grid to become the bad guy of the next film.
It'll be interesting to see where Quorra and Sam's story goes. I was a little fuzzy on just how Quorra's digital DNA was supposed to change the world...
And finally, I'm hoping Castor and Gem (like any shady dealers worth their salt) had an emergency escape route to make it out of the End of Line club. I'd like them to come back for the sequel.

Definitely some Ed Dillinger Jr in Tron 3.
Having him cameo like that for a few minutes was definitely designed to feel like "Woah, Dillinger's son? What's going on here??"
Now. we. wait.
Hopefully not 28 years haha

Throwing in Dillinger Jr. very much implies a son-vs-son battle for TR3N.
The two biggest open questions from Tron Legacy are:
1) How will Quorra affect the real world? Flynn is adamant that the Isomorphic Algorithm will change the real world, but he never says how. So we've got to see what happens with Quorra. It's implied that she is smitten with Sam, though whether or not it becomes a real love affair remains to be seen. But now that Quorra is "out of the bottle" there needs to be follow up on what that means or implies for 21st century society.
2) Will the laser digitizer technology see wider use? It too has slumbered in a bottle. Will Sam bring it out into the open? Will the public, or at least Encom, begin experimenting with inserting themselves into the cyberverse? Also, will the new movie take place on the World Wide Web, with millions of computers and connected servers?

I think it'd be interesting to see the technology of digitizing going "mainstream."
If Isomorphic Algorhythms can be created out of nothing and can be repaired/restored then that shows how "miraculous" they could be.
What if people suddenly had an Encom-marketed ability to go into a world free from disease, a world where a person who couldn't walk could suddenly do so again thanks to an IsoAlg? Think of the implications.
That would lead to the impact on religion, medicine, commuincations that Alan said Flynn spoke of all those years ago.
Now, think of the implications between those of the real world who believe that to be immoral, not a true way to live versus those who would see this as nothing short of a miracle. That would be an interesting battle across lines of politics, science, morality and even mortality.
I think this would make for an interesting setup. The idea of what could be considered a digital utopia is a big one. The idea of programs deciding to control it - or of Dillinger making a power play - could be very interesting and lead to a rather epic battle within the system. A Sark 2.0 working for Dillinger, keeping tabs on the system while drawing in and keeping users for his own purposes - control over the Grid would lead to serious power in the real world for Dillinger.
Just some thoughts!

Something I picked up on was towards the end, after Sam returns. While he's in his dad's hidden office, it looked like he "downloaded" something from the mainframe and stored it on some kind of thumbdrive or SD mini card. What did he download? Was it the primary code of the Tron world? Remember, the entire Tron world was stored on this one server that Kevin setup privately, and not connected to any outside source.
So, if Sam downloaded all data relivant to the Tron world to keep it safe (and then, he immediately turned off the mainframe server...essentially shutting down the Tron world), where could this fit into a TR3N movie??
What if Sam takes this data, working with Quorra, and sets it up in a modern server or server farm? Then, what if that server is now connected to the internet??? What would the effect be on the Tron world to now possible expand globally to other PC's, servers, mainframes and the internet??
Thoughts?

It is likely that by the time of the third movie, Quorra is feeling "homesick" and probably talks Sam into either restoring the old server (using the info he downloaded) or starting a new one.
Ed Jr. hacked pretty neatly into the system to shut down Flynn's hack, so he definitely has some skills.
And while we know Sr. went to prison, we don't know how long.
I mean, surely he has been out for a while now (28 years seems like a long time for industrial espionage.)
So what have Daddy and Jr. been up to together?
Has Sr. been grooming Jr to help get revenge on the Flynn's and Encom?
What was said earlier could interestingly enough play into that.
What if Sr. is having health problems, and Jr. sees the digital world as a way to help his dad live a better life?
Sr. doubtless would have heard rumors of "how" Flynn got the information back, and he may have been seeking his own way into the digital realm.
There are many possibilities, but I would hate to see it turn into Jr controlling MCP2, which would just be a rehash of the original.
I want to see something new and different.
My friends, my fellow conscripts, we have scored! |

It's an interesting point about Quorra... I didn't really understand how she was going to change everything either. I can see it changing religion as basically a new life form was created digitally and then made flesh... that'd have wide-reaching implications. The rest is murky. It doesn't seem like just anyone could be digitized, fixed and then reconstituted because you'd have to be able to fix the basic code... is that possible with a user? Or is digital DNA like stem cells - infinitely adaptable?

Well, for turning the digital into flesh, I think I have an answer. The Shiva Laser has cylinders attached to it at the base that contain different elements, I got to see it closeup over the summer. One has H2O...water and the other Carbon. Those are two elements all life on this planet are made of. Now throw a little digital code alchemy in and viola, you have flesh and blood. Now, about the idea that somehow an ISO could change the way we live in the real world, I have no idea.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion "Word to the Motherboard!" - IsoLine |

I was in a company meeting earlier in the week. In this meeting there was a projects list of upcoming movies we will be working on.
Tron 3 was mentioned. It was mentioned in the context of "If Tron legacy does well...."
I assumed that meant at the box office.
So, you guys should know Tron 3 is a real possibility. Hopefully Legacy has legs in the coming weeks.
If so, then this thread is very relevant.

Initial returns from the opening midnight are very encouraging. Unless the fan crowd that saw it last night are the only people who will go to see it -- and I think that's not likely -- I am hopeful that TRON Legacy will have a better than respectable opening weekend. |

This movie definatly left the door open for a sequel. I am hoping it does well, so we'll see it happen. I think it'll definatly involve Ed Jr. and the company. What if Dillenger Sr. killed himself over the scandal or went insane? Wouldn't that drive Ed Jr. to seek revenge? Thats a possibility.
Just what did Sam download to the disc around his neck? I'm thinking it was Flynn himself, or what resulted from his fusion with Clu. Maybe he hopes someday to bring him back. After all, that energy didn't disappear. Everything goes somewhere, so I like to think Flynn is still alive in some form. I sure hope that wasn't the end of him in the movie.
Also, you can't forget about Tron himself, who was able to override whatever Clu did to him. Floating around in the Sea of Simulation is sure to do something to him. Something good I hope.
As for Quorra, I think what Flynn was talking about is the miracle of life. If it can happen in the computer, it can be examined by scientists and many mysteries of life could be revealed that way. This would change science, technology, and religion as he said. What I wonder is, does this make her a user now? Does she bleed or is she still like a digital image? There are many many unanswered questions, and many possibilities for a sequel.

I say BRING TRON BACK!
I want to see Tron redeemed and brought back to the hero he is.
I hope that Ed Jr. has a new MCP up his sleeve
something developed privately with the help of his father
starting out with him as a kid playing chess
but as Ed Jr. grew, so did MCP 2.0
I'd like to see Tron have to come back
and once again save the ENCOM system
along with Sam Flynn and Quorra.
I believe this has set us up to come full circle to the next generation in TR3N

Perhps an idea of gamers logging in the system and got digitized and fighting real time against the new MCP in an internet world in Tron 3. that would be interestng.

take another 28 years to reach fruition.
B: There are some excellent ideas in this thread. It pleases me to see this
kind of quality brainstorming. The idea of Dillinger Jr. trying to use the IsO technlogy
to help his father is an angle I never would have thought of.

the more I dwell on it, Tron Legacy almost seems like a Back To The Future II - and we all know BTTFIII was better.

Welcome to the board . Good to see another TRON executive/production member here. I thank you guys for listening to us despite the partial flaws the sequel has. Otherwise, I enjoyed it. I'm not very surprised about the TRON 3 elements and how it will transition over and I'm very sure the chip Sam has downloaded to will play a part in ENCOM's server which is huge compared to Kevin Flynn's lab.
I certainly hope Clu isn't dead as I loved his nonchalant and disciplined presence. I believe he and Flynn are fused together similar to Dragon Ball Z but done differently. They will have to split again for part 3 and this time, Clu is rectified and programmed for good against another hacker threat or whatnot.
I don't think Dillinger Jr should be evil like his father but rather have altruistic reasons, perhaps teaming up with Sam and Quorra. Kevin Flynn could still get out of the system if his still alive inside Sam's memory card, including TRON which would require Alan's real source code for an upgrade. The real TRON in ENCOM for 2010 has to be much more advanced than TRON in Flynn's Grid.
