Fantastic weekend here, everybody! We have choreography locked down for about 3/4 of the movie, the script is getting tighter by the day, Kadij's makeup is decided, and Niko's costume has been figured out--finally. Some photography for the short stories has been completed, and storyboarding has started on the big VFX sequences.
We've also decided to add a little bit more depth to the movie itself--it was originally going to be solely an action piece, almost without dialogue, but we're adding a couple of characters and extras to flesh out what's going on and how it's all tying into the mythology of Tron and, indeed, into the rest of the story we've created for Niko and Kadij. Expect an appearance from a couple somebodies we've seen in Tron before, as well as some generic bad guys to get derezzed. All things we had no plans to do, but as we learn a bit more about the tech we're going to be using and get things taken care of well in advance of the shooting date, we can afford to do a little more.
Also, we're pushing the shoot date back to mid-March in order to get the choreography much tighter and give us time to make slightly more elaborate costumes. Might push the release date back, but it'll also give us time to polish the digital sets more and generally make things
better across the board.
I'll post some video from our preproduction meetings this week so you can meet myself and Lesley and get a sense of the mood on this show. We're having a ton of fun doing it and I think it'll show.
Oh, and we're getting access to a more production-level camera. Thank goodness. More on this later, and look for a longer blog post from me including some video and shiny renders at
http://spillwaybrain.wordpress.com later this week!
BinaryZero, I wanted to thank you again for your advice and support. I've got the book you suggested on order from Amazon and from reading through the samples and table of contents there are a few things in there that'll really facilitate some of the stuff I'm looking to do.
