Y'know, I was actually paying attention when I just watched it... and I don't know that we ever see it. (I was wondering if it was some sort of concentrated energy since it was such a small amount. "5-hour energy!" my mom said. Haha.)

It seems like it's always concealed in someone's hand. But I still have the film on loan and have to watch parts of it again for some writing I'm doing, so I'll try to watch that part again soon and see what I can see. I'll look at the screenshots later too but I'm on my way out the door 'cause I have a choir concert tonight so it'll have to wait.

I would WANT to think it'd be just a small glass vial, but that's just my imagination speaking. Or maybe a flask. (That'd be fun but from the way they were all holding it, I don't think it was that shape.)

So from here I can see it's a basic cylinder in a matte anodized black finish. Whether this is really anodized metal or plastic isn't significant, as they can be indistinguishable, especially if you can't touch them.

Assuming (correct me if wrong) that the top end actually terminates in a cap, at the base of the cap is a ring of glossier finish, and just below that, a 3/4 inch line that could be some sort of window or decoration. With the cap off, an inner tube can be seen with a slightly smaller diameter than the cap itself.

If that sliver of something below the cap is indeed a window, I can exploit that and extend it from the top to bottom of the vial, thereby creating a charge level indicator.

I'm still undecided on whether the vial contained energy, or something else. They never actually address it in the movie. Perhaps something that helped with the reboot process?

Thoughts? (On both the contents and design of the vial)

PS: I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before, but I could also make a battery charge indicator in the shape of an ID disk. The lighting pattern on it makes it a no-brainer.

The indicator on the Iphone is pretty chunky.

The design I'm working on is a little longer but much narrower since the vial is quite slim. This is what I have so far:



Not sure if I want to do anything more to this, I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. What do you think?

I was wondering that too. I wanted to keep the proportions as close as possible, and making the glass window any wider looked a little goofy and un-tronlike on a vial that slender (IMO). Can you think of a creative way to use Tron liquid energy?

By the way, the Iphone automatically adds a reflection to the battery icon, so you'll actually be looking at two bars, not one fine line:
