The only things I've found have been Kevin Flynn's deluxe disc, the single man deluxe flyer, and an ultimate Clu with a funny face stuck on it. Its WAY past time for these toys to be hitting shelves and I can only seem to find these things online. Whats going on?
How about series 3? Any confirmed news on it yet? |
Here's my guess and it may be nothing more than supposition, so please take it with a grain of salt. I think that TRU only ordered the Series 1 stuff, planned to sell through that merch completely and then 'probably' have no plans to continue the line after that. Granted, based on the popularity of Series 1 merch they may eventually get more Series 2, 3, and beyond, but I think their major selling plan really only accounted for the sale of Series 1 and a smattering of two (the 3-man light jet's for instance) before the line ran out of steam with the movie quickly disappearing into the rearview.
Toy Fair will truly be the telling thing as to what (if any) the major plan is beyond Series 2 from Spinmaster. We've heard all kinds of scuttlebutt but zero official pics have appeared online (unless you count Castor on the cardback), which is strange given the unintentional transparency so many toy companies have today- more leaks than the Titanic, in other words.

I find it very hard to believe that they would think the line isn't doing well. All the diecasts are sold out everywhere I go. It's honestly kind of annoying at this point.

No problem IMO, dispute away. I suppose at the very least TRU ordered Series 1 and 2 because both were the guaranteed waves to immediately follow the movie, but I think beyond that they'd be skeptical.
As a collector and not someone who has to purchase stock for shelves at a major chain like TRU, I can see the merit of keeping a smattering of 3 3/4 Tron figures around post movie for the lookeelous and curiousity seekers, but once the movie disappears into the rearview most kids/parents/collectors will be moving onto the next movie/TV/videogame property dejour and probably will for the most part forget Tron. That isn't to say the line isn't great and that a great Series 3/4/5/etc. could reignite interest in the property as an action figure property by itself, but until we get news one way or another re: what's coming (or not), who knows.

LOL I just ordered 2 and came here to post it. I was at a TRU where I had them look it up, and the girl said "oh...they're available to order online". I was '!' and rushed home to order and post. LOL
Thanks for letting everyone know, magnum!
We did stop at 2 Targets and 1 Walmart in addition to the TRU.
TRU: no new stock that I could see, but an endcap was added in addition to the 'normal' Tron area in an aisle. And when I say there was a BOATLOAD of Kevin Flynn Lightcycles there...I do mean a BOATLOAD! They're gonna have to clearance them for like $3 a piece eventually. LOL. Some of the track systems. Some of the Ultimate Sam Flynns. Not much else to speak of. Very few Deluxe Discs at all. No diecasts.
Both Targets: same old stock. It seems like they haven't gotten any new stock in in like weeks. Nothing in either store in the stockrooms. The one Target had the SAME 2 Rinzler Deluxe discs sitting there that we've seen for weeks now! LOL. Neither had any more Light Runners left. Not sure what's up with Target, but I'm getting tired of visiting them so much. I mean...the employees are starting to recognize me when I walk in, and know exactly what I'm looking for. LOL. Sheesh...

I really hope Castor comes out. It would be such a shame to be teased like that and not ever see him or gem the siren. but I hope it doesn't become ridiculous like the star wars figures. I don't think we need a figure for every random background program. I am all for a Tron figure or some of the classic movie ones

It does seem like the toys are drying up. Nothing new at Target for a while and Wal-Mart seems like a ghost town.
If I offend any Iron Man 2 fans here, I apologize in advance, but I think it sucks that I can go into any store and see pegs upon pegs of those things sitting there with new stock coming in (I work in retail) and Tron is getting swept under the carpet. Not happy with Spinmasters at all. If they knew they wouldn't be releasing Castor in series 3? I would have rather they included him on the multi dvd pack instead of that cheap looking identity disc.
Just for the halibut, my wish list:
Deluxe Kevin Flynn
Deluxe Castor
Deluxe Quorra
Deluxe 'Redeemed' Tron
Core 'Redeemed' Tron
Core Castor (since it doesn't look like he's going to make it)
Core Gem
Core Anon (They could have done it as a simple Clu repaint IMO)
"Classic" Deluxe Flynn
"Classic" Deluxe Tron
"Classic" Deluxe Sark
"Classic" Deluxe Yori
End of Line Club core playset w/ soundchip featuring Daft Punk's "Derezzed"

Oh, iritates me too... I love the figures, I love the movie, but when the stores rarely have any interesting characters (Ivan Vanko, Comic Ivan Vanko, Hammer Drones, etc) and it's been a year of just basic Iron man figures... yeah.

My wish list (core line) would be helmetless versions of
-Sam Flynn
-Quorra
-Clu in robe
-Tron
As well as
-Castor
-Gem
-Kevin Flynn in black outfit
And the following vehicles
-Clu's Sentry Light Cycle
-Clu Light Jet
I know we're not gonna get all of that, but if I could at least check a few off that list I'd be happy.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Thank goodness someone else is starting to discuss this, because I've been similarly vexed and perplexed by the voluminous amounts of IM2 figures that never seem to end at pretty much all of the major retail stores I frequent. There is a constant supply of these things and I'm not sure how, but they seem to multiple right before my eyes as I'm looking at them! Or, perhaps this is just a drug-addled haze?
Regardless, it would be nice to see other more worthy lines get a similar treatment. After all, could IM2 3 3/4" figures really be selling that well that WM, TRU, and Target never let the supply run out, or is it simply the same figures I keep saying on a daily/weekly/monthly basis? If so, why aren't these damn things on clearance already??

Since when does it not look like he's going to make it? Was it decided somewhere that Castor wasn't going to make Series 3 or was S3 cancelled and I just missed the memo? Which raises a point about how much I despise supposition somewhere along the line becoming fact because negative nancy types make it so through constant reinforcement. If in fact this rumor is true though, I'd like to see the source of that information.

It could be that the Tron toys aren't selling well at the Disney Store, so Disney Store won't be carrying the merchandise anymore, yet other stores, such as Walmart and Target, will.
Maybe I read this wrong?

I seriously think that TRU and Target are letting their Tron supply drain out. Take a look at the Target.com website. All the discs are not available, and the same with the lightrunner. Personal opinion, of course...but it doesn't look good. I went to grab another lightrunner yesterday, and couldn't find one at any of my local Targets! I used to pass them over...but now that I want one...sigh. Both Target and TRU stock in my stores are growing smaller and smaller. I see WAY more peg than I'm comfortable seeing. I'll check again this weekend...but if things look the same, I'm going to start to get seriously worried.
ETA: my light jets I ordered from TRU yesterday shipped. Phew...at least that's over with!

Just a thought ,has anyone noticed that the design on the front of 1982 Tron, which you can see on the image at the top left of this website, is given a nod on the Rinzler action figure. More specifically I mean the three dots in a row with on under the centre.
I would not be surprised if the whole planet has noticed and I am the last person to point this out :-)order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill
