My coworker once emailed me asking me to do something I didn't have the user capabilities to do in a certain program, and I wrote her back and said, "I'm sorry, Dave, but I'm afraid I can't do that." She called me and said, "Uh...this email you sent me...did you mean to send it to someone else?" [we do have a Dave in the office so I'm sure that only upped her confusion] So then I had to explain Space Odyssey and Hal 9000 to her...
Then there was the time my coworker got on the paging system to tell another coworker he had a visitor up front, but a slip of the tongue made her pronounce his last name wrong. So somebody else got on and jokingly said "it's [another funny mispronunciation]." So I couldn't resist, and then *I* got on and said, "No, it's pronounced 'eye-gor.'" I'm...not sure anyone understood. At least, I didn't hear any laughter from back there... |
