There's no denying the effort Disney and Kosinski are putting into this. I hope you're right!

With these re-writers, the movie is almost definitely seeming like a serious oscar consideration. Just saying.

With all of the money and risk Disney sunk into this movie they should have just hired an established director, Arndt and Bird in the first place.

Well, Steve Lisberger wasn't an "established director" of feature films, and arguably "Tron" turned out pretty darn good.

There's nothing wrong with getting input and assistance from a few people with a different perspective and more experience. order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Wanna arguably about it?

Studios have to develop new talent. Kosinski made a very impressive calling card, and since this is his first feature, he's likely to take some artistic chances, which is probably just what's needed.

Music-video and commercial directors can transition well to the feature film industry - not that they always do, but I'd say McG's take on Charlie's Angels went quite well. Disney already has Kosinski locked-in to do a Black Hole remake. it doesn't sound like they think they're taking a big risk with this director.

I agree, isMetaClass. I think Disney is very comfortable with their choice of director.

And as for the Black Hole, well he's not necessarily "locked-in", according to this article:

http://www.reelzchannel.com/movie-news/7147/tron-legacy-director-joseph-kosinski-outlining-black-hole-remake
The article states:

(begin quote) Kosinski added the caveat that his plans to make The Black Hole could change if Tron: Legacy is a big success, joking that having to choose between making a sequel to Tron: Legacy and making a reboot of The Black Hole "would be a great problem to have." (end quote)

So if TRON: Legacy does well, our friend Joe is gonna have a big decision to make!

I just hope that he could somehow be able to make both!

I think you misinterpreted me a little. I wasn't saying there is a Jar Jar-like character in Pixar films. I was saying I hope Pixar isn't stepping in to add a comedic relief character in Tron Legacy or transition one to become more comedic just to be cutesy and appeal to the younger crowd more... like Jar Jar was to Star Wars.

Virtually every character in a Pixar film is comedic and/or cute at one point or another; usually all the way through ... except for the "bad" guys... but even they are cute from time to time. There's not much need for comedic relief in Pixar films because their films are pretty comedic by nature. And for the times when those films become emotionally serious mid-way through the film or at the end, there are plenty of characters to step in and provide comedic relief. Pixar films don't need to add a Jar Jar character or a similar brand new character to lighten things up... they have plenty to choose from in each film already. None of them are usually as annoying as Jar Jar... though Dory speaking whale in Finding Nemo was a close 2nd for me.

I don't want Pixar lightening things up more than Kosinski or Lisberger wants. I've seen early Tron concept art of Bit where it's a talking face (see the "Art of Tron" book), and don't want Pixar making Bit become that; especially if Kosinski wasn't wanting or planning to do that. Heck, I hope Lisberger isn't wanting to do that.

I'm pretty optimistic about Pixar's participation in T:L ... but will reserve final judgment for after I see T:L. Anyways, Theflynnabides said not to worry with good reason, so I'm trying not to.

My main point is that they'd never do that, and it's absolutely idiotic to assume they would.

xalener Wrote:Can you point out a stupid Jar-Jar binks type character in any pixair movie?

Mater.
Dory.
Jack Jack.
M-O.

These characters exist primarily for the purpose of levity. They may be better executed than Jar Jar Binks, but the "lightness" they bring to the story at key times seems right in line with the concern Traahn voiced.

xalener Wrote:My main point is that they'd never do that, and it's absolutely idiotic to assume they would.

Considering the first Tron film had Bit, and that film (in general) has become increasingly engineered for mass appeal (hence the Pixar characters listed above), I would disagree. We could easily see a character added for the benefit of comic relief. That said, if this were to happen, I suspect it will fit in fairly well.

The movie will be either good or bad. But it won't be the possible inclusion of humor that definitively pushes it in one direction or another.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

A person could argue (maybe successfully, maybe not) that every Pixar character has some comic-relief/cuteness character. But that's the image they've decided to make for themselves. It doesn't mean that the people at Pixar (Lasseter, Docter, Bird, etc) aren't capable of writing outside that box.

Don't confuse the brand and the marketing with the people behind it.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

I don't think anyone is underestimating the creative ability or flexibility of these people. But as mentioned previously, Tron (as a brand) isn't completely lacking in the cute and/or wacky humor department. Bit in the first film brings a small amount of this to the table. Byte in Tron 2.0 brings more.

It's within reason to assume that the new film will allow some level of this. It also may not contain anything of the sort. Time will tell.

Woah. Very spiffy!

If that's going to be made for real, and not just a mock-up I'll definately buy one.
