I have yet to figure out why everyone gets so het up about the Ladies' Night thread. An entire forum of bad double-entendres about Quorra and Gem, and folks freak out if there is ONE thread for women to discuss who they find attractive (which have classically been male in the history of the thread, but I have no actual desire to be hetero-exclusive and anyone of any sex or gender is certainly welcome for discussion). You would have to understand the history of above-mentioned thread. In short so you don't have to read the whole thing as the thread's quite long: one of the former female regulars here once started the thread in order for the few and the proud to get together and have a place to discuss... well, whatever we felt like, without the male freak-out-age that would occur were we to discuss said things on any of the "main" threads.

It went pretty well, except every so often someone-- and it just so happened to always be a male someone though I'm willing to be fair and possibly chalk that up to coincidence-- would get their knickers in a knot and derail the whole thread with iterations of "OMG THIS THREAD IS DISGUSTING" or some such similar (that is, when they weren't insisting on discussing attractive females on it. None of us have anything against attractive females, but much of this site is dedicated to discussing attractive females, and as most of the female regs at the time were pretty much on the heterosexual end of the spectrum, there was only so much that "hot chick" pictures could do for us and we mainly wanted to discuss dudes). Of course, all complainers completely ignored the bad double-entendres I mentioned before (which used to be much more prevalent here) or some of the pictures of scantily-clad women that had been posted many times (often both were perpetrated by those who were also the most vocal opponents of the Ladies' Night thread, incidentally).

Hence why the thread has pretty much died-- because we got tired of the constant whining and hijacking, and no one lately has felt it worth resurrecting and dealing with all of that crap some more.

I can deal with double-entendres and scantily-clad women and discussions of attractive women. Y'all, I'm a red-blooded human being with a sex drive and a dirty mind just like everyone else. I can appreciate a pretty girl even if my personal door may not swing quite that way. What I canNOT deal with is when someone wants to lambaste the women of the forum for doing the exact same thing from the female point of view (whether it's due to homophobia, or inability to tolerate discussion of a topic that doesn't interest them, or a mere shock that women are sexual beings, or whatever the reason is). Sauce for the goose and gander, etc.

Now, I have no desire to hijack the thread, and no desire to debate this (if anyone wants to, feel free to start a new thread or PM me or whatever floats your boat) so that's all I'll say about it here, but you did ask how we got onto this topic and in a nutshell, that's it.

FWIW, I'm of the opposite opinion. If you want to express your interest in the Tron characters you find attractive, more power to you! It's something else in the fandom to celebrate, as far as I'm concerned. And any of the guys out there whining about Tron male appreciation threads really need to grow up. Don't like 'em, don't read 'em - just do your thing and let other people have their fun.

I really should post more here. Since school started, I've had to ease back into my daily adventures throughout the World Wide Grid I certainly do have to say I appreciate the general kindness of the members here. Being a smaller forum, I don't have to experience the influx of obnoxious users and trolls on, say, Minecraft Forum.
